Quentin Tarantino has discussed the potential for Quentin Tarantino animated projects following the debut of “Yuki’s Revenge,” a previously unseen segment from his original Kill Bill script, which was recently released to audiences through Fortnite. Speaking at a Q&A following the Los Angeles premiere, Tarantino revealed how animation might be the key to reviving some of his unfinished cinematic concepts.
Tarantino Considers Animation for Unfinished Film Ideas
After seeing new life breathed into “Yuki’s Revenge” via the Fortnite platform, Quentin Tarantino openly reflected on using animation as a way to bring to life projects that have so far been left unrealized. The concept of using modern animation or game engines, such as Unreal Engine, was explored as a creative solution for stories and scenes considered too ambitious for traditional filming methods.
“I could see some world between [Unreal Engine] and Japanese anime that I could find some happy medium. Or, you know, between the things that I couldn’t physically do, like, say, the Vega Brothers movie, or something like that,”
Quentin Tarantino, director and writer, remarked during the Q&A at the Yuki’s Revenge premiere in LA, as reported by Pop Culture News.
The Vega Brothers project, once envisioned as a prequel uniting John Travolta‘s Vincent Vega from “Pulp Fiction” and Michael Madsen‘s Vic Vega from “Reservoir Dogs,” was set to follow the brothers’ reunion in Amsterdam. However, this concept remained unproduced, in part due to time and aging issues with the actors. Animation now seems a candidate for Tarantino to resurrect this story and other similar concepts.
Exploring Future Expansions in the Kill Bill Universe
The announcement of “Yuki’s Revenge” has brought renewed speculation regarding Tarantino’s intentions for the Kill Bill universe. When asked about expanding on this world, Tarantino admitted he has ideas for further prequels but also acknowledged the challenges involved.
“I have a whole Kill Bill idea in my mind but I was wiped out,”
Quentin Tarantino said. He further added,
“I like the idea of a Bill origin. And the three godfathers that made Bill: Esteban Vihaio, Pai Mei, and Hattori Hanzo. Will I live long enough to do that? That remains to be seen.”

The cast of Kill Bill, led by Uma Thurman as The Bride, has featured memorable performances by Lucy Liu, Daryl Hannah, Vivica A. Fox, Michael Madsen, and David Carradine. The story centers on The Bride’s quest for retribution against the Deadly Viper Assassination Squad and its enigmatic leader, Bill, after a failed assassination attempt leaves her and her unborn child for dead.
Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair Returns to Theaters
Originally released in two separate installments in 2003 and 2004, Kill Bill will soon return as a complete, four-hour collection known as “The Whole Bloody Affair.” This extended edition will feature never-before-seen animated sequences, further highlighting Tarantino’s growing interest in the medium.
Fans will have the opportunity to see Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair on the big screen again when it arrives in theaters on December 5. The project continues to generate new excitement for Tarantino’s legacy and raises just as many questions about how future Quentin Tarantino animated projects might evolve in the years to come.
