Glen Powell appeared on the red carpet at this year’s Golden Globes, telling viewers that his unusual walk could be blamed on recent injuries sustained while filming. The Glen Powell Golden Globes moment was notable as the actor, known for “Anyone But You,” pushed through discomfort to attend the prestigious ceremony held on Sunday.
Accident on Set Linked to Series Football Scenes
Powell explained to Variety that the injuries came from his involvement in football scenes related to his Hulu series, openly crediting the fictional character Chad Powers for his current state.
“I gotta say, all the football guys – I was down there, I took some hits yesterday,”
Powell told Variety while on the press line before the ceremony.
“If I’m walking a little weird today, it’s because I’m in a little bit of pain.”
Despite the discomfort, Powell maintained a positive attitude and engaged with the media and fans.
Anticipation Grows for Second Season of Hulu’s Sports Comedy
Continuing the conversation, Powell discussed ongoing production for the second season of the Hulu comedy series, which centers around a Georgia football team called the Catfish.
“The football is great. We’re leveling up on the football, were leveling up on every part of the fish,”
Powell remarked, clearly excited about what is ahead for the cast and crew.
“I’m just really excited for what this season has in store.”
He described season two as significantly darker and more chaotic, promising that the story’s development will be marked by turbulence driven by the character Russ Holliday.
“Some people just want to watch the world burn. I think the fun part is [season 1] ended on a darker note, and that’s what season 2 is definitely going to represent. It’s really the chaos that Russ Holliday is bringing on the world. It’s all coming crashing down in the best way.”
Series Success and Glen Powell’s Recognition
The show, which launched with strong reviews, was renewed for a second season by Hulu after a positive audience response. Earlier, Powell expressed faith in the project’s appeal and stressed that audience reception shapes a show’s future.

“America has to vote, that’s a democracy that we live in, and once the people vote, then they determine our fate,”
he said to Entertainment Weekly prior to the series premiere.
“But at the same time, I feel very confident that people are going to really respond to the show.”
That confidence was validated when Hulu decision-makers listened to viewers’ praise, granting another season.
Golden Globes Nomination and Competition
Powell’s efforts did not go unnoticed by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, which gave him a nomination for Best Performance by an Actor in a Television Series at the Golden Globes. As he attends the ceremony in pain, Powell is up against notable names such as Adam Brody, Steve Martin, Seth Rogen, Martin Short, and Jeremy Allen White in the category, making this one of the most pivotal moments in his acting career.
Looking Ahead After a Memorable Night
While recovering from his football mishap, Glen Powell’s candor and resilience on the red carpet have drawn attention to both his personal dedication and the popularity of the Hulu series. The recognition from both fans and major awards voters, including the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, highlights a significant moment not just for Powell but for the broader cast and crew involved in creating the series. Whether he claims the Golden Globe or not, his presence at the event as a contender and as a committed performer stands out as a symbol of hard work and adaptability in Hollywood.
