Pamela Anderson Reveals Why Seeing Seth Rogen Felt ‘Weird’ at Globes

During the recent Golden Globes ceremony, Pamela Anderson shared her unsettled feelings about crossing paths with Seth Rogen, who was involved in the Hulu limited series Pam & Tommy. The actress, known for her role in Naked Gun, spoke candidly on Andy Cohen’s SiriusXM Radio Andy show about the strange encounter with Rogen, who produced and starred in the 2022 series depicting a controversial chapter of her life. Anderson and Miley Cyrus presented the award for Best Actress in a Musical or Comedy Motion Picture to Rose Byrne, while Rogen took home two awards for his Apple TV show The Studio.

Anderson Describes Her Discomfort With the Series and Encounter

Anderson explained that after receiving her award, she quickly left the venue, saying,

“left after my award and I went right to bed,”

illustrating how much the situation affected her. She expressed frustration over the fact that the series was created and released without any discussion with her, stating,

“Seth Rogen, like he did that [series] without talking to me, you know, and that was another — I just felt like, ‘Eh.’ You know?”

and added,

“Like how can someone make a TV series out of the difficult times in your life, and ‘I’m a living, breathing human being over here. Hello.’”

The actress further reflected on being physically close to Rogen during the awards show. When asked if she saw him, Anderson revealed that he was seated

“in the pit… so we were close,”

which made her feel awkward. She said,

“I felt a little bit weird about it, and I felt like, you know, I’ve been so busy and working,”

citing her recent workload, having completed five movies in the past year. Yet, she admitted moments of vulnerability, adding,

“I’ve done five movies in the last year, so I’ve just been busy. But sometimes it hits you and you feel kind of down. And then with — I don’t know, it just felt like a little yucky. But, I mean, it was — it’s eventually, hopefully, he will — maybe he’ll reach out to me and apologize. Not that that matters.”

Background on Pam & Tommy and Its Controversial Subject Matter

The series Pam & Tommy portrayed the notorious scandal surrounding Anderson and her then-husband Tommy Lee, the drummer for Mötley Crüe, whose private tape was stolen and became one of the first viral videos. Released in 2022, the show told their story from meeting to the scandal with a comedic tone, starring Lily James as Anderson and Sebastian Stan as Lee. Seth Rogen played the role of Rand Gauthier, the electrician responsible for breaking into their house and stealing the tape.

The original incident took place in 1995 after the couple’s wedding, and they won a copyright infringement lawsuit in 1998 against the Internet Entertainment Group, which had profited from distributing their tape. While the series was highly publicized, Anderson expressed concerns about the portrayal of such a painful personal chapter on screen without her consent.

Pamela Anderson Voices Pain Over Private Tragedies Being Exploited Publicly

During the interview, Andy Cohen probed whether an apology from Seth Rogen would hold meaning for Anderson. She responded by emphasizing the unfairness of having personal pain exposed to the world, saying,

“You are free game. When you are a public person, they say you have no right to privacy, but your darkest, deepest secrets or your tragedies in your life shouldn’t be fair game for a TV series,”

adding,

“That pissed me off a little bit.”

Cohen acknowledged her experience, stating,

“already went through the indignity of a very private thing being exposed to the world.”

Anderson agreed, calling it the worst time in her life and lamenting,

“Yeah, the worst time in my life,”

with Cohen continuing,

“And then now it’s being portrayed all these years later after you’ve reconciled it, after you’ve reclaimed your story, and it’s being now portrayed as fiction and as fun and whatever.”

Feelings Surrounding Their Interaction and Moving Forward

Cohen asked Anderson how she reacted when she saw Rogen, whether she gave him a glare or avoided him. She admitted,

“I mean, you’re kind of already tiptoeing around it. It’s so uncomfortable being around everybody there,”

explaining that many attendees were people from her Malibu days, which added to her sense of not belonging. Anderson also said,

“didn’t make a beeline for him,”

but in her mind, she confronted him privately, telling him how she felt.

Despite the tension, Anderson declined to let the situation consume her thoughts, concluding,

“I mean, there’s worse things going on in the world,”

indicating her intention to focus beyond the incident.
