Timothée Chalamet Reveals Shocking Threat on Marty Supreme Set

During a recent Q&A with Robert Downey Jr. at New York’s DGA Theater, Timothée Chalamet shared a startling experience he had on the set of the film Marty Supreme. While shooting a scene directed by Josh Safdie, the actor recalled being threatened by an unnamed extra, adding an unexpected layer of tension to the production. This incident highlights an intense moment behind the scenes involving the Golden Globe-winning star, making headlines for its dramatic nature.

Challenges Working with Non-Actors on Set

Chalamet described the dynamic on set, particularly during a motel sequence that involved numerous non-actors. He explained the challenge of eliciting authentic emotions during multiple takes.

“I won’t say who, but in that motel sequence, there are a lot of non-actors…that I find it really thrilling to work with, but sometimes it would take multiple takes to really get something out of them,”

he confessed. In the process, he attempted to provoke anger from one of the extras to capture the right intensity on camera.

Unexpected Threat During Filming

Despite persistently trying to get a reaction, Chalamet initially struggled to make the extra angry.

“I was saying to Josh, ‘He’s not getting angry with me, he’s not getting angry with me,’”

the actor admitted. However, the situation took a sudden turn after one more take, when the extra issued a chilling warning.

“I did another take, and then the guy said, ‘I was just in jail for 30 years. You really don’t want to f— with me. You don’t want to see me angry,’”

Chalamet said, breaking into nervous laughter. He then turned to the director, saying,

“I said to Josh, ‘Holy s—, who do you have me opposite, man?’”
