Elle Fanning and Andy Samberg Star in Hellmann’s 2026 Super Bowl Ad

Actors Andy Samberg and Elle Fanning are featured together in Hellmann’s upcoming commercial set to air during the 2026 Super Bowl. The ad, spotlighting the brand’s signature mayonnaise, was filmed at the iconic Canter’s Deli in Los Angeles, bringing humor and music to one of the year’s most-watched events. This new campaign recreates a playful musical parody inspired by a well-known singalong anthem, capturing viewer attention ahead of the big game.

Samberg Embraces Neil Diamond Role in Playful Commercial

Samberg channels the style and energy of singer Neil Diamond in the Hellmann’s ad, delivering a musical performance centered around mayo. The comedian, known for his work on Saturday Night Live, expressed enthusiasm about taking on this creative project.

“I was told that there was going to be a re-imagining of a Neil Diamond song for a spot, and it was for the Super Bowl, which was very exciting of course,”

Samberg shared with PEOPLE.

The 46-year-old actor also praised the brand’s previous commercials, referencing Kate McKinnon’s popular “mayo cat” ads and last year’s famous reunion of Billy Crystal and Meg Ryan spoofing When Harry Met Sally.

“I thought there was probably going to be some fun to be had,”

he said. A longtime fan of Neil Diamond, Samberg noted, “Love Neil Diamond,” and highlighted his appreciation for Will Ferrell‘s impersonation of the singer on SNL.

“He’s an American classic, and he writes songs people want to sing along to,”

he added.

Samberg’s Personal Connection to the Campaign

Samberg sees himself as an ideal fit for the campaign due to his affection for sandwiches and condiments.

“I mean, for me it’s like you put Neil Diamond and sandwiches together. Those are two of my interests,”

he revealed. He also emphasized his passion for condiments with a bold statement:

“I think with condiments, there’s never too many. That’s my hot take.”

Elle Fanning’s Excitement and Family Ties Behind the Scenes

For actress Elle Fanning, accepting the role in the commercial was “an automatic yes.” The 27-year-old shared that the project carried special meaning for her family, particularly since her grandfather, Rick Arrington, was an NFL quarterback.

“It’s a very big deal and a very big deal for my family,”

she told PEOPLE.

“My mom is the most proud of me to get this. We screamed together. I could not wait to tell her. We love the Super Bowl. We throw parties. We watch it and we love the commercials.”

Fanning also revealed plans to keep her appearance in the ad under wraps from some friends and family members, aiming to surprise them during the broadcast.

“So now I get to pop up in one,”

she said.

“I’m definitely keeping it a surprise from some people. I want to do a little jump scare on people.”

A Shared Love for Mayonnaise and Condiments

The “Sentimental Value” star also spoke about her fondness for mayonnaise, connecting it to cherished family traditions.

“I will put it on anything,”

Fanning explained. She recalled her grandmother’s tradition of making mayonnaise and tomato sandwiches on white bread, a recipe passed down through generations.

“She would make those with her father. And so that was something that she kind of passed down to me,”

she said, highlighting the sentimental and cultural significance mayonnaise holds in her life.

Looking Ahead to the Super Bowl Impact

This collaboration between Elle Fanning and Andy Samberg for Hellmann’s continues the brand’s trend of memorable and creative Super Bowl commercials. Following last year’s notable campaign that brought together Billy Crystal and Meg Ryan, this year’s musical parody promises to engage fans with humor and nostalgia. As the 2026 Super Bowl approaches, audiences can expect a commercial that celebrates classic American culture, the joy of condiments, and the infectious spirit of a singalong anthem, likely making it a standout moment during the game’s commercial breaks.
