Uma Thurman Manhattan duplex has returned to the market with an asking price of $9 million. The two-level apartment combines two previously separate units that Thurman acquired and transformed between 2006 and 2016.
The actress, known for roles in Pulp Fiction and Kill Bill, originally purchased the larger duplex spanning the eighth and ninth floors for $2.65 million following her divorce from Ethan Hawke in 2005. In 2012, she expanded the home by buying an adjacent single-floor unit for $1.55 million, merging it with the main duplex after a complete renovation.
Thurman eventually sold the combined space in 2016 for $6.6 million to new owners attracted partly by the exclusive access to Gramercy Park, a key feature of the property in this coveted Manhattan area.
Improvements and Unique Features of the Property
Under current ownership, notable upgrades have been implemented, including replacement of windows and modernization of air conditioning systems throughout the apartment. Real estate agents Chris Kann and Jennifer Ireland from Corcoran list the property and highlight its distinctive attributes.
Chris Kann explained,
“the key to the park was very appealing to the current owners, who were engaged in Gramercy Park and had been looking for the right apartment. When this came up, they jumped on it.”
This exclusive access adds a unique level of desirability, setting it apart from other Manhattan residences.
The spacious home distinguishes itself with ten-foot ceilings that elevate the open atmosphere. The 1910-era building primarily contains duplex units, and this apartment is one of the few boasting a private terrace. The five-bedroom layout includes a lavish primary suite on the upper floor featuring a hammam-inspired shower and an independent soaking tub, enhancing its luxury appeal.
Versatility and Appeal of the Combined Duplex
The portion of the apartment Thurman incorporated from the neighboring unit has a separate entrance, offering potential for use as an in-law suite or guest area. This flexible setup currently holds a bedroom, library, and media room, providing privacy and adaptability within the larger residence.
This exceptional mix of space, historic charm, and modern improvements makes the property a standout offering among Manhattan’s Gramercy Park real estate options, likely attracting buyers who value both exclusivity and functional design.
