Pax Thien Jolie-Pitt, son of Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, made an uncommon appearance on the red carpet at a film screening in Utah. This noteworthy moment took place on January 23 at a Park City event, where Pax’s presence drew attention due to his usually private lifestyle.

At the screening of Self Custody, Pax, 22, was seen posing alongside director Garrett Patten and producer Fernando Ferro while attending the event in Park City. Later, he engaged with the filmmakers and mingled with guests during the post-screening gathering. His attire was casual yet purposeful, wearing a red plaid overshirt that subtly showed his support for the film.
A Childhood Immersed in Film but a Reserved Public Presence
Since his adoption by Angelina Jolie in 2007 and subsequently Brad Pitt in 2008, Pax has grown up surrounded by the film industry. Although he appeared at several high-profile occasions early on, including the 2018 Golden Globe Awards and the 2019 red carpet premiere of Jolie’s Maleficent: Mistress of Evil, he has preferred to stay away from consistent public attention as he matured.
His involvement with film has also included brief work behind the scenes, such as a cameo in Maleficent and providing the voice for the character Yoo in the animated movie Kung Fu Panda 3, which was also led by his mother.

Why Acting Has Not Been Pax’s Chosen Path
Despite Pax’s exposure to the entertainment world from a young age, Angelina Jolie has made it clear that acting was not a career choice for her children. She explained on BBC Radio 4’s Woman’s Hour in 2016,
“None of my children want to be actors,”
and added,
“I think they like the process of film from the outside.”
In a 2019 interview with Extra, Jolie reaffirmed that movies are part of her children’s world but not central to their identity. She said,
“[Movies are] a part of their life. But it’s not important to them, and a center of their lives in a way that’s unhealthy. It’s all fun.”
Jolie also indicated that Pax may gravitate toward music rather than film. During the Woman’s Hour interview, she remarked,
“They are actually very interested in being musicians,”
and noted, Pax loves music and deejaying.
Pax’s Early Life and the Family Environment
Born in Vietnam on November 29, 2003, Pax spent his infancy at the Tam Binh Orphanage near Ho Chi Minh City before joining Angelina Jolie’s expanding family. His siblings include Maddox (24), Zahara (21), Shiloh (19), and twins Knox Léon and Vivienne Marcheline (17).
Jolie once described Pax as a tough, remarkable little person who adjusted well after joining their family. During a visit to Vietnam in 2011, she spoke about the importance of cultural identity for her children, explaining,
“They are all learning about each other’s cultures as well as being proud of their own,”
and shared,
“They all have their flags over their beds and their individual pride.”
Following Jolie’s finalized divorce from Brad Pitt in 2024, she emphasized that her children remain the focus of her life. In a 2023 interview with WSJ. Magazine, she said,
“They are the closest people to me and my life, and they’re my close friends,”
adding,
“We’re seven very different people, which is our strength.”
What Pax’s Rare Public Appearance Suggests About His Future
Pax Jolie-Pitt’s understated but visible presence at the Park City screening offered a rare window into the life of one of Hollywood’s most private young stars. Although he has largely kept away from the limelight, this appearance signals a gentle engagement with the film community, suggesting that while he respects his family’s roots in filmmaking, he continues to explore his own, less public path.
