Ava Johnson, daughter of wrestling icon Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, has confirmed her departure from WWE after six years. Her exit marks the conclusion of a significant period with the company, as she recently made her final appearance on the NXT brand.
Ava Announces Decision to End WWE Contract
Ava chose not to extend her WWE contract, describing the choice as challenging but necessary for her personal growth. She shared this news in a heartfelt post on Instagram after her last show aired earlier this week.
This past Tuesday was my last appearance on NXT & subsequently WWE. Thank you to all who have cheered, watched, and supported me through my journey. While my decision to not renew my contract was very difficult, it’s also new turning point in my life. It has been an honor & a privilege to be Ava.

Simone Johnson, known in WWE as Ava, signed with the company in 2020 and began her training at the WWE Performance Center, aiming to build on her family’s wrestling legacy. Initially debuting as a wrestler in the Schism faction on NXT, she soon transitioned from in-ring competition to a managerial role.
Appointed as the General Manager of NXT after about a year as an active competitor, Ava became the show’s principal authority figure. She managed matches, introduced championship bouts, and handled various on-screen disputes, providing stability during a period of creative changes within the brand.
Highlights from Ava’s WWE Tenure
Although her wrestling career was brief, Ava made a notable impact as an on-screen personality with a strong presence. She became a familiar figure on NXT, honing her speaking skills while steering key storylines and serving as the brand’s authoritative voice.
Her tenure involved interactions with emerging NXT wrestlers, crucial moments tied to The Bloodline storyline, and several memorable appearances alongside her father, Dwayne Johnson. Additionally, she shared lighthearted segments with Stevie Turner, who later became head of WWE’s Evolve brand.
Ava’s influence went beyond television, as she was featured as a playable General Manager in the WWE 2K video game series’ MyGM mode, a notable inclusion that cemented her place in WWE history.
Following the announcement of her departure, Ava posted a message expressing gratitude and pride in her role.
I loved being your mayor. From the bottom of my heart, thank you.
