On January 7, Jennifer Lawrence opened up about her latest “happy place” while speaking with Josh Horowitz at the 92NY Kaufmann Concert Hall. The 35-year-old actress and producer discussed her role in the upcoming horror comedy, Die My Love, highlighting how inhabiting intense characters helps her find relaxation and comfort.
From ‘Kardashian Tent’ to New Sources of Comfort
During the conversation, Horowitz referenced Lawrence’s previous coping method, jokingly called the “Kardashian tent,” which she created while filming Mother! in 2017. Lawrence explained that since her character endured profound loss—her baby dying—she needed a space to decompress from such dark emotions. She described how the tent became a refuge amid hundreds of extras, a quiet spot where she could eat and recharge peacefully.
Lawrence recalled,
“I didn’t have a ‘Kardashian tent’ on this one,”
while emphasizing the unique challenges the new role presented. She added,
“I mean, I would have a tent anyway because there were, like, hundreds of extras. So, just in between for me to go sit and eat in peace.”
She fondly remembered the contents of her earlier retreat:
“But I had Kardashians playing on the laptop and gumballs and it just kind of turned into a happy place,”
referring to how this simple setup provided comfort during demanding filming days.
Discovering a New Happy Place in Reality TV
When asked about her current happy place, Jennifer Lawrence surprised many by naming another reality television show. She revealed,
“Probably Secret Lives of Mormon Wives. I think that’s just perfection, and the way it ended. Yeah, it would probably be that,”
highlighting her genuine enjoyment of the series as a source of joy and distraction.
The Meaning Behind Jennifer Lawrence’s Happy Place
Lawrence’s openness about what grounds her, especially through challenging roles like Grace in Die My Love alongside Robert Pattinson, shows how personal coping mechanisms evolve over time. From celebrity-focused television to niche reality shows, her happy place reflects her need for calm and levity in a demanding profession. Fans can expect this introspective honesty to continue as her career unfolds and new projects emerge.
