Alicia Silverstone Visits Puppies She Rescued From Euthanasia

Alicia Silverstone, known for her role in Clueless, recently visited Helen Woodward Animal Center to meet a dog and her twelve puppies that she played a part in rescuing from euthanasia. The rescue took place last December, shortly before the mother dog was scheduled to be euthanized in a San Bernardino shelter. This visit highlights Silverstone’s ongoing commitment to animal welfare and her involvement with the center.

Rescue Effort Initiated by Silverstone’s Concern

Staff at Helen Woodward Animal Center revealed that Silverstone, who has collaborated with the shelter on other campaigns, reached out after seeing a social media post about an orphaned terrier-mix who was pregnant and due to be euthanized within 24 hours. Responding quickly, the center’s team retrieved the dog, who was later named Noel.

From Rescue to New Beginnings

Noel gave birth to twelve puppies, each named after the traditional Twelve Days of Christmas. The puppy names are Drummer, Piper, Lord, Lady, Maid, Swan, Goose, Ring, Calling Bird, French Hen, Turtle Dove, and Partridge. All twelve puppies, along with their mother Noel, are expected to be available for adoption by mid-February.

Silverstone’s Message on Animal Rescue

During her visit, Silverstone emphasized the importance of rescuing animals rather than supporting breeders or pet stores. She stated,

This is something that is so manageable and solvable if people spay and neuter, stop going to breeders, stop going to pet stores, and just rescue.

Looking Ahead for the Puppies and Noel

The availability of Noel and her puppies for adoption represents a hopeful future for these animals, reflecting the impact of timely rescue efforts and community support. Alicia Silverstone’s involvement continues to bring attention to the need for spaying, neutering, and choosing rescue over purchase, potentially inspiring others to take action in their communities.
