Adrien Brody Finally Makes His Long-Awaited Broadway Debut

Adrien Brody, known for his performances in films like Roman Polanski’s The Pianist and Wes Anderson’s The Grand Budapest Hotel, is finally making his Adrien Brody Broadway debut after more than 30 years in acting. At 52, the two-time Oscar winner will take the stage at the James Earl Jones Theatre starting March 19 in the play The Fear of 13.

The Story Behind The Fear of 13 and Brody’s Role

The Fear of 13 tells the real-life story of Nick Yarris, who spent over two decades on death row in Pennsylvania after being wrongfully convicted of rape and murder in 1982. He was exonerated in 2004 through DNA evidence. Brody will portray Yarris in this play, which explores themes of injustice, morality, and dignity, based on Yarris’ memoir Seven Days to Live and a 2015 documentary of the same name.

Creative Team and Previous Performances

The play is penned by Lindsey Ferrentino and directed by David Cromer, who is known for his work on the theatrical adaptation of Good Night And Good Luck, associated with George Clooney’s portrayal of Edward R. Murrow. Brody first played Nick Yarris in 2024 at London’s Donmar Warehouse before bringing the role to Broadway.

Supporting Cast and Partnerships

Golden Globe nominee Tessa Thompson will star alongside Brody, contributing to a powerful cast. The production partners with The Innocence Project, a nonprofit focused on freeing wrongfully accused individuals. Christina Swarns, once an attorney for Yarris, now leads this organization as executive director.

Production Schedule and Expected Run

The Fear of 13 will preview from March 19 and officially open on April 15, with plans to run for 16 weeks. This debut marks a significant milestone in Adrien Brody’s career as he adds a major theatrical credit to his extensive filmography, expanding his artistic reach from screen to stage.
