Jake Gyllenhaal’s Kill Switch: Netflix’s New Action Thriller

Jake Gyllenhaal, an Academy Award nominee, has committed to star in the new action thriller titled Kill Switch, which Netflix recently secured the rights to. The project is penned by Harrison Query, known for writing Head of State, with production led by Matt Reeves—director of The Batman—and Lynn Harris under their 6th & Idaho banner.

Kill Switch has been described as a fusion of the 2004 film Collateral and the 2015 thriller Sicario, both highly rated action movies, yet many plot specifics and character information remain undisclosed. Alongside Reeves and Harris, Gyllenhaal and Josh McLaughlin will produce through Nine Stories, with Scott Glassgold representing 12:01 Films. Harrison Query will also serve as an executive producer.

Background on Collaborators and Related Projects

This film continues the partnership between Gyllenhaal and Query, who are presently collaborating on Amazon MGM Studios’ political thriller Code Black, adapted from Query’s short story bearing the same name. Query’s connection with Netflix extends further as he develops an A24 series called Trigger Point, which was confirmed for production last November, as well as having sold his script for The Operator, a film starring Mark Wahlberg.

Prior to Kill Switch’s release, Gyllenhaal is set to appear in The Bride!, a gothic crime film directed by his sister Maggie Gyllenhaal, which premieres on March 6. He also has upcoming roles this year in Guy Ritchie’s action thriller In the Grey, M. Night Shyamalan’s supernatural thriller Remain, and will return as Elwood Dalton in Road House 2 from Amazon MGM Studios.
