Actress Debra Messing voiced sharp criticism of New York City’s response to the recent arctic storm, highlighting the ongoing chaos on the streets nearly a week after the event. Addressing the situation on social media, Messing emphasized the severe traffic congestion and inadequate snow removal, calling the condition of city streets a disaster during this storm episode.
Extended Delays and Emergency Vehicles Stalled Amid City Gridlock
In a recent post on X, the star of Will & Grace described being trapped inside a taxi for more than an hour due to traffic jams caused by uncleared streets. She stated that a trip expected to take 20 minutes had stretched to over an hour and ten minutes.
Sitting in a taxi trying to get to an appointment. Should take 20 minutes, we are at an hour and ten minutes and counting. The streets are a disaster. It hasn’t snowed in 5 days and the streets still haven’t been cleared,
Debra Messing said.
She further recounted witnessing an ambulance caught in the same congestion, with its sirens sounding as it remained immobile, raising concerns about emergency response effectiveness.
Poor ambulance sitting in essentially a parking lot with sirens going. I’m praying for the person needing emergency care. I’ve lived here for 15 years (this go around) and this has never happened. The plows have always worked around the clock to get the city back to working.
Messing added.

Subtle Criticism Directed at Newly Elected Mayor Zohran Mamdani
Although Messing did not name the new mayor directly in her storm-related remarks, her dissatisfaction was implied as she questioned what had changed in the city’s snow removal efforts since the election. She urged New Yorkers to endure the difficulties with patience.
Wonder what happened? she wrote rhetorically. Hang in there, New Yorkers.
Background: Messing’s Previous Opposition to Mayor Mamdani
Debra Messing has a history of opposing Zohran Mamdani, particularly during his mayoral race. Mamdani’s outspoken anti-Israel views sparked Messing’s criticism given her public stance against the rise of antisemitism following the October 7 attacks on Israel in 2023. On Election Day, she shared a controversial meme depicting Mamdani as an “actual Communist Jihadist” on Instagram, contributing to a viral discussion.
Will & Grace star Debra Messing shared a viral meme on Election Day Tuesday, to her 1.4 million Instagram followers, calling newly elected New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani an ‘actual Communist Jihadist,
Breitbart News reported.
The meme gained viral steam on social media after being promoted by The Persian Jewess Instagram account showed a fake voter ballot listing two candidates as ‘As a Democrat. Just a Democrat’ and the other as ‘An actual communist jihadist. A literal Karl Marx-quoting, America-hating jihadist,’
the report continued.
The Storm’s Impact and What Lies Ahead for New York City
The ongoing issues with street clearing and emergency vehicle accessibility raise urgent questions about New York City’s preparedness and response under its current leadership. As residents endure these difficulties, the disruption serves as a stark reminder of infrastructure and management challenges amid increasingly severe weather events. How officials will address these concerns in the coming days will likely influence public confidence and the city’s readiness for future storms.
This is unfair @RottenTomatoes. A low-level filmmaker like me makes a movie for $10k, wins an award, secures distribution, gets critical acclaim, generates 100% with a ZERO marketing budget, and you take that away by deleting @MattsMovieRev from your site. This is wrong! pic.twitter.com/RHZWz2VeXD
