Emma Stone Reveals Why She Still Avoids Social Media

Emma Stone continues to steer clear of social media due to concerns about how it affects her mental health. Despite recently acquiring the domain for her own name, Stone has made it clear that she is not interested in creating a personal lifestyle blog or similar platform. Her cautious approach to online presence reflects her efforts to protect her well-being.

Owning EmmaStone.com and Its Role in a New Advertisement

Stone obtained the domain EmmaStone.com for the first time to feature in a new Super Bowl commercial for Squarespace. Earlier, she had not purchased the domain, something she attributes to a lack of foresight.

“Squarespace kind of had to deal with my lack of foresight. So I’m very grateful they did or else the commercial really would not have worked. It would have been weird if you went to EmmaStone.com and it was… I don’t even know what might have been going on over there,”

said the two-time Oscar winner.

Childhood Interest in Web Design and Blogging

Stone shared how she enjoyed creating early websites using platforms like Angelfire and GeoCities during her school years. She fondly recalled building a class presentation that she had classmates visit the library to view.

“I was really into that. I built a presentation for class when I was in elementary school and I remember that I had to bring people to the library to see my presentation,”

she explained.

She praised her enthusiasm for designing websites with features like drop-down menus and expressed her longtime passion for blogging and reading blogs.

“I was really proud of my drop-down menus, and you know, all the things that you could do on Angelfire, basically. So I was very into that. I also remember the LiveJournal time, and I was such a blog reader for so long. It was like my favorite thing, and so now I’m truly one of the Substack freaks. I’m spending a lot of money on Substack,”

Stone revealed.

Stone’s Stance on Social Media and Mental Health

When asked whether she would use her domain for a lifestyle blog or other social media engagement, Stone responded decisively.

“One hundred percent no. That’s why I don’t even have Instagram. I’m too afraid of my own mental health to be engaged in that way, and that’s why I’m such a lurker and love following other people’s stuff,”

she told Rolling Stone magazine.

Upcoming Recognition in Film

Emma Stone is currently nominated for another Best Actress Academy Award for her performance in the film Bugonia, underscoring her continued success as a leading actress in Hollywood.
