With the third season of the Apple TV series Shrinking currently airing and a fourth season already confirmed, the future of the show looks promising. Yet, iconic actor Harrison Ford expressed that if his career were to conclude with this acclaimed series, he would be perfectly at peace with that outcome. The Apple TV press event at Santa Monica’s Barker Hangar on Tuesday provided the setting for Ford to share his thoughts on the project’s impact and significance.
Panel Discussion Highlights the Impact of ‘Shrinking’ on Cast
During the panel moderated by Ashley Nicole Black, the cast delved into the profound themes the show explores, centered on a grieving therapist who starts to openly challenge his clients. Ford, joined by fellow cast members Christa Miller, Jessica Williams, Michael Urie, Luke Tennie, Lukita Maxwell, and Ted McGinley, spoke first about what the series means to him. At 83 years old, Ford described the work on Shrinking as “remarkable” given the creative tools available and the show’s core ideas.
Ford said,
“Where do you go from here? The kind of work that we’re able to do is remarkable given the tools we have to work with, and the notion that lies behind this series. And if it was all over here, that would be sufficient,”
sharing sincerity about the project’s uniqueness. He continued,
“This has been a different kind of job for me, and I’ve been doing this for a long time. This is very special and it really nurtures me and makes me feel like what we’re doing has value and importance. I look for that in my life and I’m happy to have found it here.”
The audience of around 300, including press and influencers, responded with warm applause, reflecting the deep connection Ford feels with the series and its message.
Cast Chemistry and Mutual Appreciation Shine Through
The atmosphere during the panel was filled with admiration and camaraderie. Christa Miller, the series supervisor, was praised not only for her musical direction but also for her calming presence on set, especially around babies. She returned the compliment, calling Ted McGinley “so lovely and warm.” Meanwhile, Ashley Nicole Black was recognized as one of the talented and beautiful writers who also plays a vital role behind the scenes.

Luke Tennie expressed his admiration for Jason Segel, absent from the event, saying,
“there is no better quarterback, there’s no better team captain.”
Ted McGinley credited Ford’s example for fostering respect on set:
“every single person on set matters,”
including those providing small acts of kindness like handing a cup of water early in the day.
“He’s kind to everyone from the bottom to the top,”
McGinley added.
Harrison Ford on Portraying a Character with Parkinson’s Disease Alongside Michael J. Fox
A notable element of Shrinking features the inclusion of Michael J. Fox, who has openly battled Parkinson’s disease since 1991. Ford’s character faces this condition within the storyline, adding emotional complexity. Ford acknowledged the gravity of portraying such a role:
“It was a bit daunting when I thought about it, because I am representing a character that has Parkinson’s, and Michael, of course, has the real thing,”
he shared.
He spoke highly of working with Fox, emphasizing the actor’s generosity and presence on set:
“Michael is an extraordinary, generous and lovely fellow, who I did not know at all and had a chance to, just working on this show. It was an extraordinary experience to work with him. He is such a powerful presence. Such grace and courage and indomitability, and some of that, I hope, will help me color my portrayal of a character with Parkinson’s.”
Ford balanced the seriousness with admiration for Fox’s humor:
“That’s the serious part of it. But the fun part of it was there as well. It was an extraordinary experience, I think for all of us, to be with Michael and see how he does what he does. He’s so funny as well.”
