Chris Pratt has publicly recognized military veterans for their dedication and work ethic, calling them some of the most reliable individuals he knows in Hollywood. On his Amazon Prime show The Terminal List, Pratt collaborates closely with former Navy SEALs, praising their ability to get tasks done efficiently and effectively. His comments highlight the important role veterans play behind and in front of the camera in the entertainment industry.
Veterans Bring Discipline and Reliability to Film and Television
During an appearance on the podcast Literally! With Rob Lowe, Pratt shared his admiration for the veterans working on his show, describing them as individuals who “just get [expletive] done.” He explained that his team includes veterans both on-screen and off, emphasizing how smoothly they handle their responsibilities without needing constant oversight. Pratt praised the seamless transition from military service to Hollywood careers, calling it a great outlet for those who have served.
Pratt said,
“Our room is populated with a bunch of veterans. We’ve got people in front of the camera, behind the camera who are all veterans. They work, man. And that, the pipeline of like going from military to the film and television industry is — it’s such a great outlet for these guys.”
He added,
“Cause they are just like, they just get [expletive] done, you know? If you ask, ‘Hey handle this.’ They’re like, ‘Got it.’ You don’t have to follow up the next day. And they’re not like, ‘Oh, actually, it’s kind of like, I think stuff’s going on. Like, first of all, you have to understand what happened.’ It’s like, ‘No, they just get [expletive] done.’ It’s amazing.”
On The Terminal List, Pratt stars as James Reece, a Navy SEAL lieutenant commander, a role that underlines his respect and connection to military servicemen and women. As an executive producer of the show, he directly supports bringing genuine veteran perspectives to Hollywood projects.
The Unique Skillset Veterans Bring to Entertainment
Pratt discussed how former Navy SEALs apply their unique training within the arts, explaining that their specialized skills are typically narrow in focus but highly valuable. He observed that these veterans are now channeling their abilities not only in security roles but also in educating actors on weapons handling and tactical movement, combining their military discipline with creative work.

He remarked,
“What they’re capable of doing, it’s very specific and kind of narrow in terms of application, unless you’re gonna go do private security for somebody where you need to be on your toes and be willing and capable of delivering lethal force to protect something.”
Pratt elaborated,
“To see them using their training — but in service of art — it’s been amazing to see this sort … this catharsis, because these are guys who have millions of dollars worth of training pumped into each one of them. And then to put that training into making actors know how to handle weapons systems [and] move properly.”
In recognition of Veterans Day, Pratt also honored his family members who served, tweeting,
“Happy #VeteransDay to all the men and women who have worn our nation’s uniform. Special shout out to my brother Cully, and so many of my cousins and uncles, you inspire me. May we never take your service for granted. Today and every day we honor you and every Veteran! 🇺🇸”
Ongoing Support for Veterans Within Hollywood
This is not the first instance Pratt has highlighted the invaluable contributions of military veterans in the entertainment industry. Previously, he acknowledged a group of executive producers on The Terminal List who are former Navy SEALs and Army Rangers, emphasizing their work ethic and smooth career transitions.
He stated,
“We’ve got a really fantastic team of executive producers that are former Navy Seals, former Army Rangers and a bunch of men and women who have retired and transitioned over into the film and television industry. Which is, by the way, a fantastic avenue for these folks. Super service driven. Work really hard. It’s a really nice fit. It’s been great for everybody.”
Pratt’s career began with the comedy series Parks and Recreation, starring alongside Amy Poehler, before moving on to blockbuster films like Guardians of the Galaxy, Jurassic World, and The Super Mario Bros. Movie. His rise to fame has allowed him to use his platform to amplify respect for veterans in the challenging climate of Hollywood’s entertainment world.
Upcoming Projects Spotlighting Veteran Stories
In addition to The Terminal List, Pratt is involved in the upcoming film Way of the Warrior Kid, which stars him alongside Jude Hill. The movie tells the story of a decorated Navy SEAL who mentors his nephew to stand up to bullies, showing a personal and inspiring side of veteran life. Scheduled for release on Apple TV on November 20, the film continues Pratt’s ongoing commitment to portraying veterans with depth and respect.
Significance of Pratt’s Support for Veterans in Entertainment
Chris Pratt’s outspoken praise for military veterans stands out in Hollywood, where such recognition is less common. By supporting veterans on and off screen, he is helping to create more authentic portrayals of service members and opening paths for them in the entertainment industry. His efforts bring visibility to the discipline and skills veterans bring to creative roles, while also honoring their sacrifices in a very public way. Moving forward, projects like The Terminal List and Way of the Warrior Kid will likely continue to build bridges between military service and artistic expression, encouraging a broader appreciation of veterans’ contributions beyond traditional contexts.
