Jason Momoa Stars in Helldivers Movie Coming November 2027

Jason Momoa will lead the cast of the upcoming action adventure movie Helldivers, based on the popular video game series. The film, backed by Sony Pictures and PlayStation Productions, is scheduled for theatrical release on November 10, 2027.

Details on the Helldivers Film and Its Creative Team

Directed by Justin Lin, known for his work on the Fast & Furious franchise, the Helldivers movie draws from the game’s story where an elite group of soldiers fight against alien threats endangering Super Earth. Although casting beyond Momoa has not been revealed, the movie’s premise revolves around the highly trained Helldivers unit battling extraterrestrial dangers. Producing the film are Hutch Parker, Asad Qizilbash from PlayStation Productions, and Justin Lin through Perfect Storm Entertainment.

Collaboration Between Sony Pictures and PlayStation Productions

This adaptation marks another collaboration between Sony Pictures and PlayStation following the success of 2022’s Uncharted, starring Tom Holland and Mark Wahlberg, which earned $407 million worldwide. Their partnership has also extended to television with shows like Peacock’s Twisted Metal and HBO’s Emmy-winning The Last of Us.

Background and Future Potential of the Helldivers Franchise

The original Helldivers game launched in 2015 by Arrowhead Game Studios, with a sequel, Helldivers 2, arriving in 2024. The existence of this new game entry offers additional material that could support future movie installments if the first film performs well at the box office.
