Actress and former talk show host Rosie Perez recently revealed she predicted Vice President Kamala Harris would lose the 2024 presidential election, but her warnings to campaign members were ignored. Perez shared her concerns during an appearance on the podcast The Best People with Nicolle Wallace, emphasizing the lack of attention her insights received while campaigning in key areas.
Rosie Perez’s Campaign Experiences and Early Warnings
At 61 years old, Perez spoke openly about her grassroots efforts, including campaigning for New Jersey’s Governor Mikie Sherrill, as well as for Kamala Harris. She described visiting
“neighborhoods that nobody wants to go into,”
highlighting her commitment to reaching voters often overlooked by mainstream campaigns. Despite her efforts, Perez admitted candidly that the Harris campaign fell short, stating,
“I’m just going to be honest, it wasn’t a good campaign, and I told you that.”
Host Nicolle Wallace Acknowledges Ignored Advice
Nicolle Wallace, host of the podcast, confirmed Perez had previously warned her about the campaign’s challenges, but those warnings went unheeded. Perez recalled the frustration clearly:
“You didn’t want to hear it. Nobody wanted to hear from me. I remember I said, ‘She’s going to lose.’”
Understanding Voter Sentiments Across Party Lines
Perez explained that during calls and conversations with voters—Democrats, independents, and Republicans alike—she discovered a common concern: economic hardship.
“I knew it on the calls from what people were telling me because I have learned through people who are MAGA in my family, and some people who are friends and everything. I have learned to stop yelling, and I’ve learned to listen more,”
she said. Perez emphasized that social issues did not dominate voters’ minds; they were united by economic struggles and a demand for change.
“Nobody cared about social issues or anything like that. They were struggling, and they wanted something to change on that level. That was it. That was it. And it blew my mind that so many people were on the same page, regardless of party.”
Attempts to Alert Campaign Leadership Prove Unsuccessful
According to ABC News, Perez participated in several Zoom calls with pro-Harris leaders to voice her concerns, yet her advice was largely dismissed. While she noted that some have since apologized, she stressed that many campaign members failed to heed her warnings.

“I’ve gotten apologies, not from everybody, but I’ve gotten apologies,”
Perez said.
Reaction to GOP Rally and Ongoing Political Frustrations
In a prior interview with NPR, Perez discussed a Trump rally at Madison Square Garden, where comedian Tony Hinchcliffe’s controversial remarks about Puerto Rico unexpectedly benefited the Democratic campaign. Perez described the incident as “a political gift” and expressed disbelief that people continued to support Trump despite such controversies.
“It just boggles my mind that people still want to vote for this man,”
she said, underscoring her ongoing political frustration.
Rosie Perez’s candid reflections expose the internal challenges within the Harris campaign and reveal widespread voter concerns that were overlooked during the 2024 election cycle. Her experience signals the importance of listening closely to grassroots feedback in future political efforts to better align strategies with voter priorities.
