Timothée Chalamet Calls Nolan’s ‘Interstellar’ His Fav Project

At a recent screening of the 2014 science-fiction film Interstellar, Timothée Chalamet reunited with director Christopher Nolan and expressed that the project remains his favorite to date. The event took place as the star reflected on his small but meaningful role in the movie, highlighting its significance in his career.

Chalamet’s Early Role in Nolan’s Space Epic

In Interstellar, which follows former NASA pilot Cooper (Matthew McConaughey) on a desperate quest to save humanity, Chalamet portrayed Cooper’s teenage son. The adult version of the character was played by Casey Affleck. Although Chalamet’s part was minor, it marked an early step before his rise to fame with acclaimed films like Dune and Wonka. During a conversation following the screening, the actor revealed his affection for this particular role.

Though my role is not enormous in ‘Interstellar,’ I think I was number 12 on the call sheet, this film came to me at a time in life, in my career, where things were certainly not set yet,

Timothée Chalamet explained (via Variety).

And it’s remained my favourite project I’ve ever been in. It’s the film I’ve seen the most of, of all the films ever made in human history.

Christopher Nolan Shares Stories from Filming

Christopher Nolan recalled an amusing story about working with Chalamet during the production of Interstellar. He specifically mentioned a scene where the lead character listens to recorded messages from his family and how the actor chose to approach it.

When you were filming the messages from home, there was a particular thing where you were hitting a dark tone,

Nolan said.

It felt too much for me. I didn’t particularly like it. I told you about it and you went ahead and did whatever the fuck you wanted and carried on. But I was like, ‘He knows what he wants to do and has an idea.’ It wasn’t about being stubborn. You had planned what you wanted to do. You planned your choices and you didn’t want to abandon that on a casual whim for me.

Chalamet’s Recent Revelations and Controversies

More recently, Timothée Chalamet shared in a different Q&A that he invested a six-figure sum of his own money to secure the rights to perform Bob Dylan’s songs on Saturday Night Live. His commitment to his craft extends beyond acting roles to musical performances.

In a separate context, emails released in the Epstein files revealed that Woody Allen’s wife, Soon-Yi Previn, described Chalamet in a negative light, labeling him a “prick.” This points to ongoing controversies surrounding the actor outside his professional work.

Why ‘Interstellar’ Holds a Special Place for Chalamet

Despite the brevity of his role, Interstellar arrived during a formative time in Timothée Chalamet’s career and has stayed with him since. The film represents an early milestone and remains a personal favorite due to its impact on his development as an actor. His connection with Christopher Nolan and the work itself underlines how even smaller roles in significant projects can shape a future star’s journey.
