Sony’s ambitious four-film project about The Beatles, directed by Sam Mendes, has expanded its impressive cast. Lucy Boynton will portray Jane Asher, Farhan Akhtar takes on the role of Ravi Shankar, Morfydd Clark is cast as Cynthia Lennon, and Harry Lawtey joins as Stuart Sutcliffe. This addition deepens the ensemble supporting the principal narrative of the iconic band’s story.
Profiles of the Newly Announced Actors
Lucy Boynton is known for her role as Mary Austin in Bohemian Rhapsody and has appeared in films such as The Greatest Hits, Chevalier, and The Pale Blue Eye, with an upcoming role in Jay Duplass’ See You When I See You. Farhan Akhtar, recognized for Bollywood features like Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara and Bhaag Milkha Bhaag, as well as Marvel’s Ms. Marvel, recently portrayed Major Shaitan Singh Bhati in 120 Bahadur.
Morfydd Clark gained attention for her work in Saint Maud and The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, and she will soon star as Ophelia in Hamlet alongside Riz Ahmed. Harry Lawtey, known from the series Industry and movies including The Pale Blue Eye and Joker: Folie à Deux, is set to appear opposite Russell Crowe in Billion Dollar Spy.
Established Cast and Production Team Details
The four new cast members join Harris Dickinson as John Lennon, Paul Mescal as Paul McCartney, Joseph Quinn as George Harrison, and Barry Keoghan playing Ringo Starr. Filming has commenced in the U.K. with each film in the series focusing on a different Beatles member’s perspective.
Other confirmed actors include Saoirse Ronan as Linda McCartney, James Norton as Brian Epstein, Anna Sawai as Yoko Ono, Aimee Lou Wood as Pattie Boyd, Harry Lloyd as George Martin, and Mia McKenna-Bruce playing Maureen Starkey. The production boasts an experienced creative team including cinematographer Greig Fraser, editor Lee Smith, production designers Stefania Cella, Mark Tildesley, and Neal Callow, costume designer Sinéad Kidao, and hair and makeup designer Naomi Donne.
Production and Release Information
Sam Mendes is directing all four films and is collaborating as producer with Pippa Harris and Julie Pastor of Neal Street Productions. Alexandra Derbyshire is also among the producing team. Sony Pictures will finance and distribute the series globally, with the first installment scheduled for release in April 2028.
