The NAACP Chairman’s Award is presented to individuals who demonstrate exceptional public service and use their platforms to foster meaningful social change. The organization notes it honors those who
“excel in public service and leverage their unique platforms to ignite and drive meaningful change,”
reflecting Davis’s commitment to activism.
Davis has actively collaborated with initiatives aimed at ending childhood hunger across the United States and recently established the Davis-Tennon Foundation to further her philanthropic efforts.

The actress, known for her powerful roles in Fences and How to Get Away With Murder, has achieved EGOT status, winning an Oscar, Emmy, Grammy, and multiple Tony Awards. Beyond her accolades, she has earned nine NAACP Image Awards, including recognition for her 2022 memoir, Finding Me. Her work in both the arts and activism continues to inspire audiences nationwide.

Upcoming Honors and Award Ceremony Details
Davis recently received the Cecil B. DeMille Award at the 2025 Golden Globes and was inducted into the Television Academy Hall of Fame last summer. She also earned an honorary doctorate from the American Film Institute and received the William O. Douglas Award from Public Counsel for her social justice work in 2022.
She will accept the Chairman’s Award during the 57th annual NAACP Image Awards ceremony on February 28. The event will be broadcast live on BET and CBS from the Pasadena Civic Auditorium. Davis is also nominated for an Image Award this year for her role in the action film G20.
