Chris Hemsworth Bribes Daughter with Motorbike to Film Avengers

Chris Hemsworth had to bribe his 13-year-old daughter, India, with the promise of a motorbike to convince her to appear in the upcoming film Avengers: Doomsday. The actor, known for his role as Thor in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, revealed that persuading India to reprise her character Love required significant negotiation because she was reluctant to spend long hours on set again.

Teen Actress Shows Typical Teenage Reluctance

Speaking on The View, Hemsworth described India’s attitude during filming, noting that she approached production with typical teenage frustration.

“She’s now 13, so she’s a teenager, so a bit different from when we shot the other one,”

he said. India expressed impatience the moment she arrived on set.

“And she walks on set and she’s like, ‘Ugh, how long is this gonna take?’ I was like, ‘We haven’t even started!’”

Hemsworth recalled.

After completing just one take, India asked if filming was over, only to be dismayed when her father informed her there would be another two or three days more of shooting. Hemsworth laughed about her reaction:

“She’s like, ‘Aww, God.’ She had just this angsty, sort of teenage attitude [about filming and would often retreat to her tent or sit in a chair].”

Negotiating with a Teenage Actor

Hemsworth explained that his daughter was not throwing a tantrum but was clearly not eager to remain on set. To convince her, he had to strike a deal.

“She’s like, ‘I’m not coming! I’m not even getting paid! What am I even doing here?’ And I go, ‘You are getting paid.’ She goes, ‘Really? You didn’t tell me that,’”

he recounted. However, explaining the payment would remain saved until she turned 18 wasn’t quite enough. India insisted on receiving some payment immediately.

“She goes, ‘Nah! Nah, I want some of it now,’”

Hemsworth shared, adding that the film’s directors and co-director Joe Russo were also involved in encouraging her participation.

Incentive Linked to India’s Passion for Motorbikes

Chris also revealed that India was eager to leave because she wanted to attend a Billie Eilish concert.

“She’s like, ‘When’s it?’ I’m like, ‘It doesn’t start yet! We’re not gonna miss it! Just get on set!’”

When it came down to a bargaining point, India’s love for motorbikes proved useful. Hemsworth said,

“She races motorbikes and rides motorbikes and she goes, ‘… Could I afford that motorbike that I wanted?.’ I was like, ‘You possibly could.’ So a slight negotiation and off she went.”

Balancing Parenthood and Filming Challenges

The star, who also has 11-year-old twin sons Sasha and Tristan with wife Elsa Pataky, acknowledged the typical challenges of managing a teenage daughter on set while maintaining a professional environment. India’s candid reluctance and occasional withdrawal reflected a normal teenage attitude rather than serious disruption, yet navigating her moodiness added pressure to the filming process. Hemsworth’s ability to negotiate with his daughter illustrates a personal glimpse behind the scenes of major MCU productions and highlights the complexities a parent faces trying to balance family life with blockbuster filmmaking commitments.
