Eric Roberts, a contestant on Dancing with the Stars, expressed his determination to remain on the show until the very end. Speaking with RTÉ Entertainment, Roberts revealed that his goal is to stay through the finale, driven by both the thrill of performance and the growing friendships formed during the competition.
Top Performance Highlights and Mindset Shift
During last week’s Fright Night theme, Roberts and his professional dance partner, Arianna Favaro, secured the top spot on the leaderboard with a striking Charleston routine set to Derek Martin’s song “Happy.” Initially, Roberts was focused on merely avoiding early elimination, but his perspective has since evolved.
He said,
“I think coming into the competition, I was just thinking I don’t want to be the first or second to go, you’re kind of nervous of going out early. Now that I’m actually in it, I’m just addicted to the adrenaline and the buzz on a Sunday night when it goes well,”

Roberts further added,
“I want to be here until the bitter end and to the final. It’s so hard seeing people go every week, but we’re all building such camaraderie and friendships, and the place is getting quieter in here when you’re rehearsing, but I think we’re all just in the same frame of mind now – we want to be here until the end and enjoy the full experience,”

Growing Competition Among Contestants
As the competition progresses, Roberts acknowledged that the atmosphere has grown more intense, with contestants becoming increasingly protective of their routines. The dynamic has shifted from open sharing to strategic secrecy as everyone tries to maintain an edge.
He explained,
“I’d love to say it’s not, but one hundred per cent [we are]. We used to have such fun show-and-tells of each other’s dances, and now everything is under wraps. There’s definitely a competitive edge coming out in people, which is understandable – everyone wants to perform their best every weekend, and you want to keep a few tricks up your sleeve coming into Sunday,”

Upcoming Double Dance Challenge with Team Battles
This weekend, each couple on Dancing with the Stars will perform two competitive dances. The individual routine will take its inspiration from popular boy band hits or classic girl group songs. Afterward, couples will unite for the annual Team Dance challenge, which this year pits boys against girls.

The team captains and hosts, Jennifer Zamparelli and Laura Fox, will also join the performers in the group routine, intensifying the competition and camaraderie.
Significance of Roberts’ Commitment and What to Expect
Eric Roberts’ vow to remain on the show highlights a transformation from initial anxiety to passionate involvement. His dedication reflects the wider spirit among contestants, who balance fierce competition with growing friendships. As the contest tightens with more challenging routines and team battles, viewers can expect heightened excitement and emotional moments as the participants push toward the Dancing with Stars finale.
