Jason Statham Stars As Himself in New Action Comedy

Jason Statham is set to headline a new action comedy titled Jason Statham Stole My Bike, in which he plays himself. The film is scheduled to begin production in May and reunites Statham with director David Leitch, known for his work on movies such as Deadpool 2 and Bullet Train.

A Unique Project from Director David Leitch

David Leitch will direct the upcoming film from a script penned by Alison Flierl, who has writing credits on television series like School Of Rock and BoJack Horseman. Though plot details remain largely undisclosed, the story reportedly centers on Jason Statham as an international action star, portraying a version of himself in what is described as a distinctive role. The project marks a new collaboration following Leitch and Statham’s work on the 2019 film Fast and Furious Presents: Hobbs and Shaw.

Production and Creative Team Behind the Film

The movie’s production involves Kelly McCormick of 87 North and Leitch as producers, alongside Statham’s Punch Palace Productions and John Friedberg of Black Bear. Ethan Erwin and Meredith Berg from Beryllium Entertainment are also on board as producers, bolstering the creative team shaping this action-comedy.

Statham’s Return to Comedy and Upcoming Projects

This film marks a return for Statham to comedic roles following a series of action-focused performances. He previously demonstrated his comedic talents in movies directed by Guy Ritchie, including Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, Snatch, and Operation Fortune: Ruse de Guerre, as well as the spy-themed comedy Spy. Leitch’s recent release, The Fall Guy, which combines action with humor, suggests a similar tone can be expected here.

Statham is currently filming Viva La Madness, reuniting with Guy Ritchie and producer Black Bear. Other forthcoming projects include The Beekeeper 2, the sequel to his 2024 film, and Mutiny. Fans of Statham and action-comedy enthusiasts anticipate this new release, which promises to blend thrilling stunts with comedic elements in a fresh narrative.
