Jonathan Majors Responds to Viral NLE The Great Bible Clash

Jonathan Majors has addressed the widespread reaction to his intense debate with rapper NLE The Great on Kirk Franklin’s Den of Kings podcast, clarifying the context behind their heated discussion about faith. The exchange, which drew significant attention in early 2025, focused on the complex relationship between God the Father and Jesus the Son, sparking confusion and controversy online.

Majors Expresses Willingness to Continue the Dialogue

During an appearance on BET’s For the Fellas on February 17, hosted by Brian McIntosh with guests Deon Cole and Kenny Burns, Jonathan Majors revisited the viral moment. He stressed that his participation in the Den of Kings episode was purely professional and that his suggestion to NLE The Great to “read the Bible again” was not meant to offend.

Majors disclosed that after the podcast, he reached out to Kirk Franklin in hopes of having a follow-up conversation with NLE The Great to clear the air. He explained,

“[I told Franklin] we should do this again. Just pick up where we left off. That’s before I found out that [NLE] thought I had hostility towards him behind my wife,”

reflecting the desire to keep communication open.

Context Around the Tension Involving Meagan Good

Complicating the situation is rapper NLE The Great’s previous admiration for Majors’ wife, actress Meagan Good. In a 2024 interview with Jason Lee, NLE The Great publicly expressed interest in Good, even inviting her to dinner and promising to surprise her with roses. Majors revealed that he only learned of these past comments after Meagan Good informed him directly.

He stated,

“[The only reason] I know what he said about my wife is because my wife told me,”

later adding,

“I go, ‘All right, cool.’ I married her. I’m not worried about him in that regard.”

Although their exchange stirred tensions, Majors remained diplomatic about the rapper, choosing not to respond negatively but rather wishing him well. He said,

“I wish that for most people. Get a bit more curious, and don’t think you know everything, because I know I don’t know everything.”

He also lightly warned,

“If you want to be viral, trust me, I can make you viral.”

Majors Reflects on Personal Struggles and Support From Meagan Good

Shifting away from the controversy, Majors shared how Meagan Good played a crucial role in helping him recover after his legal issues in 2023. Following a domestic altercation with his then-girlfriend Grace Jabbari, Majors was found guilty of misdemeanor assault and harassment, resulting in probation and a year-long domestic violence program instead of jail time.

He credited his faith and Meagan Good’s support with helping him through that challenging period, saying,

“I’m only here because of my lord and Savior and my wife. And the lord put my partner, my life partner with me and said, ‘ya’ll bout to go through this together,’”

describing 2023 as a “heavy” and “dark” year that tested him deeply. He noted that Meagan provided the “gas” needed to keep moving forward.

Aftermath of the Den of Kings Episode

Following the podcast’s release, NLE The Great responded publicly, sharing his frustrations about the encounter on social media before deleting the posts. He posted pictures of himself praying, alongside images with Majors and screenshots of Bible verses, captioning one post READ IT AGAIN, echoing Majors’ remark from their discussion. He further reposted a photo with Majors on his Instagram Story, adding,

“The eyes. They never lie Chico [smirk emoji].”

In a subsequent TMZ interview, NLE The Great suggested that Majors appeared irritated because he had complimented Meagan Good publicly, and that Majors kept referencing this during their exchange. He clarified his religious viewpoint, explaining that his critique about those who

“praise the son more than the father”

was meant to emphasize honoring God the Father above Jesus Christ, whom he sees differently:

“You should appreciate your brother and honor your brother, but Jesus and God should not be on the same plain.”

NLE The Great’s Personal Transformation and Renewed Faith

Since the dispute, NLE The Great has undergone a noticeable transformation in his spiritual life. Over the summer of 2025, he shaved his head, recommitted himself to his faith, and officially changed his stage name from NLE Choppa to NLE The Great. Under this new identity, he released a track titled Messiah (Devil’s Diss) and wrote a reflective letter addressing his past self.

The public exchange between Jonathan Majors and NLE The Great highlights the complex intersection of faith, personal relationships, and public perception within the entertainment industry. Majors’ willingness to extend dialogue and maintain respect, despite the tension, may pave the way for further understanding between the two figures and offer insight into managing conflict amid social media scrutiny.
