Paul Walter Hauser is preparing to portray Mick Foley in a new limited television series, marking a significant milestone in his career. Although the series has not yet secured a network, the project is moving forward after years of discussions between Hauser and Foley, with the aim of exploring Foley’s life beyond wrestling.
Hauser Confirmed as Lead for Mick Foley Biographical Series
In a recent interview with The Stunner, Hauser revealed his official attachment to the Mick Foley series. He confirmed,
“We can kind of break that news. I haven’t said it yet, but I’m attached to play Mick in a limited series. We haven’t gone out to market yet, but it’s happening,”
emphasizing the project’s early status but clear momentum.
Humanizing Mick Foley Beyond the Wrestling Ring
Hauser explained his vision for the series, focusing on telling Foley’s story as a person, not only as a wrestling icon. He said,
“Hopefully I can bring some of my personality to that aspect as well, because when you tell the story, you’ve got to humanize the guy. We’re not just telling the Mankind story. It’s like, no, this is the Mick Foley story.”
The actor, who has earned an Emmy, blends his acting with his passion for wrestling, having competed in independent circuits and MLW, where he also works as an executive producer.
Mick Foley’s Personal Growth and Current Focus
Foley, who turned 60 in 2025, has recently undergone a significant health transformation, losing considerable weight while prioritizing wellness. His friendship with Hauser deepened through the series’ development, during which the format—whether film or limited series—was initially undecided. Foley remains active in charitable causes, notably planning to auction his original WWE Championship belt to assist fellow wrestler Sabu with medical costs.
Wrestling Industry Changes and Foley’s New Direction
Beyond the series, Foley recently ended his association with WWE, citing concerns over the company’s political ties. Despite parting ways, Foley’s legacy in wrestling and his ongoing advocacy work continue to resonate. Hauser’s portrayal is expected to bring fresh insight into Foley’s life and career, showcasing the person behind the wrestling legend.
