Chris Hemsworth Reveals How Daughter Inspired His Tattoos

Chris Hemsworth, known for his role as Thor in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, recently shared insights about the tattoos that hold special meaning for him, many of which were inspired by his daughter India Rose Hemsworth. In a recent podcast interview, he discussed the personal stories behind these body art pieces.

Dr. Seuss Tattoo Symbolizes a Bond with His Daughter

During his appearance on the Smartless podcast, Hemsworth revealed that one of his tattoos is a tribute to his daughter and their shared love of a Dr. Seuss book. The tattoo is based on the character from “Oh, the Places You’ll Go,” a book he and his mother enjoyed reading with India. Hemsworth explained,

“My Dr. Seuss tattoo…I used to read that book to her a lot, and my mom read it to me – Oh, the Places You’ll Go – and she just would draw that little character and loved it,”

Chris Hemsworth said.

“And so I got that tattoo.”

He later shared that he questioned the tattoo’s presence after some time, initiating a laser removal session. However, when India noticed the fading tattoo, she expressed her feelings about it, prompting Hemsworth to stop the removal process.

“A few years later, I was like, I’m kinda sick of it,”

he admitted.

“So I started getting it taken off, I did like one laser session, and then she came home one day, and she goes, ‘It’s rubbing off. What happened to it? It’s rubbing off.’”

He added,

“She goes, ‘No. I love it.’ So, it’s now kind of half faded, you know, but it’s still there.”

India’s Own Drawings Became a Tattoo Design

Another tattoo was inspired directly by India’s artwork. Hemsworth recounted a late-night session with a tattoo artist where his daughter’s drawing unexpectedly influenced the design.

“I was sitting with a tattoo artist one night, and it was, like, 10:00, and he’s designing all these different things and all this sort of sacred geometry and trippy-looking stuff. And my daughter walked out and goes, ‘Dad, I can’t sleep. You’re making too much noise.’ I’m like, ‘Sorry. Sorry,’”

Chris shared.

He continued,

“And she sits down and starts squiggling and drew the three little images here…[My tattoo artist] looked at me and goes, ‘I think [her drawings are] way cooler than anything we’re designing,’ and so I took a photo of that, and that’s that.”

Family and Friendship Commemoration Through Tattoos

Beyond the tattoos linked to India, Hemsworth also has a meaningful matching tattoo with his wife, consisting of the initials “C E I T S,” representing their family members. Additionally, he shares matching tattoos with his Avengers castmates, symbolizing their close bond formed through years of working together.
