Daniel Radcliffe Denies Hugh Jackman Wolverine Replacement Rumors

Daniel Radcliffe has directly addressed the speculation surrounding his supposed role as Wolverine in the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s upcoming X-Men reboot. In an interview with ComicBook.com on Monday, the 36-year-old actor firmly denied any involvement as Hugh Jackman’s successor in the iconic role.

Radcliffe Clarifies Misleading Internet Rumors

Responding to the buzz, Radcliffe described the rumors as false and purely internet-driven.

“It was not. It was not ever real,”

he told ComicBook.com.

“It was a very flattering internet rumor.”

Despite the flattering nature of these reports, he emphasized that no official offer or suggestion had been made by anyone with the authority to cast Wolverine.

Actor’s Thoughts on Playing Wolverine

Although Radcliffe acknowledged that the idea of portraying Wolverine is tempting, he stated that following in Hugh Jackman’s footsteps is not something he actively seeks.

“But it was never suggested in any kind of way by anybody with any power to make that happen,”

he repeated.

“And, honestly, you would be stupid not to consider something like that, but if they do other Wolverines, being the person who follows Hugh Jackman is not on my bucket list for anything.”

Possible Future Interest Based on Script Quality

Daniel added that his interest would depend largely on the story itself. He expressed openness to any role if the material is compelling enough, saying,

“So, if a script came in that was exciting, different, weird and cool, then I’d be up for it no matter what it was.”

This statement indicates that while he is open-minded, the decision is contingent on creative factors rather than public speculation.

Background on the X-Men Reboot

It is important to note that the X-Men franchise is currently undergoing redevelopment under the MCU banner. The reboot is in progress, but no casting confirmations have been made regarding Wolverine’s role, despite the ongoing fan speculation. Daniel Radcliffe’s comments put to rest any immediate assumptions about his involvement, clarifying that the casting remains open and undecided.
