Alec Baldwin Admits Lying to Wife About Cleaning at Home

Alec Baldwin recently revealed that he lied to his wife, Hilaria Baldwin, about cleaning their home to secretly watch a film. During a live taping of his iHeartRadio podcast, Here’s The Thing, on February 26, Alec, 67, shared this moment from their Amagansett, New York residence, which features a basement home theater. He told Hilaria, 42, he was going to clean the screening room but actually planned to watch the new Beatles documentary series Get Back.

Inside the Baldwins’ Spacious Amagansett Property

Their family estate in Amagansett comprises a five-bedroom, seven-bathroom modern farmhouse spread over 11,000 square feet. The home includes multiple amenities such as a library, an open-plan living area, and a basement movie theater that was transformed into a playroom. This large property has been featured on TLC’s reality show The Baldwins, which highlights their life raising eight children.

In an interview with The New York Times in August 2025, the couple discussed their three-story summer home on Long Island’s East End. Hilaria described the home as a sanctuary for Alec during difficult periods including his divorce and custody battle, explaining that building their life there has been a gradual, collaborative process.

“I used to lie to my wife,”

highlighting the deception. When Hilaria asked where he was headed as he walked downstairs, Alec would reply,

“I’m going to go down and clean the screening room.”

Instead, he would watch the documentary in about an hour and a half before returning upstairs to face a knowing response from Hilaria:

“It must be very clean now.”

Adjusting to Family Life and Home Management

The couple’s dynamic has sometimes involved friction regarding household responsibilities. After marrying in 2012, they encountered differences in tidying the home. Hilaria once emptied the kitchen pantry, which caused Alec to become upset because it contained expired items. Referencing this event, Alec commented,

“That was the beginning of the whole thermonuclear reaction of you taking over the house. She started out slowly, then it was like a coup d’état.”

Future Plans and Selling Their Hamptons Home

Recently, the Baldwins have expressed interest in relocating their family. Hilaria mentioned in an interview with Gurus Magazine that they no longer want to raise their children in the Hamptons and are considering Los Angeles for a fresh start. She explained,

“We don’t want to raise our kids in the Hamptons anymore. We’re considering L.A. It’s all about fresh energy — a reset.”

Their Amagansett property remains on the market with an asking price close to $20 million, as listed by Scott Bradley of Saunders & Associates. Previously, it was listed for $21 million in December 2025.
