Actress and entrepreneur Gwyneth Paltrow is hosting a large-scale charity auction featuring her clothes, furniture, and merchandise related to Coldplay. The event, organized after she sold her Los Angeles residence, aims to raise funds for World Central Kitchen, an organization that provides fresh meals to people affected by disasters.
Planning the Auction and Its Beneficiary
Following her split from Coldplay frontman Chris Martin in 2014 and her marriage to Brad Falchuk, Paltrow wanted to clear out her belongings through what she described as a “huge garage sale.” She contacted Julien’s Auctions to coordinate the event, which was titled Bold Luxury: Gwyneth Paltrow Lexicon of Style + The Archival Edit. This sale includes more than 500 items, with all proceeds directed to support World Central Kitchen’s relief efforts.
Paltrow’s Personal Connection to Food and Charity
Beyond the auction, Gwyneth shared her passion for cooking and its emotional significance, crediting her father for teaching her to express love through food. She explained her admiration for the charity’s founder, stating,
“Jose Andres is an old friend of mine, and I just admire that mission so much. It’s such an immediate way to show care, love, nourishment, dignity-and it’s apolitical. I wish there were more people in the world like him who put their money where their mouth was in that way and showed up.”
This highlights her sincere support for the cause, emphasizing the impact of providing meals with dignity to those in need.
Featured Items Highlighting Paltrow’s Life and Career
The auction includes a range of distinctive pieces reflecting Paltrow’s style and history. Noteworthy items for sale include iconic red carpet looks such as the ombre Atelier Versace gown she wore to the 2010 Country Music Awards and a custom silver Armani suit from the Iron Man 2 premiere. Among the personal effects is a straw hat and matching bag labeled “Mrs Falchuk,” referencing her husband Brad Falchuk and her 2019 hen weekend.

Additionally, the collection features a Jennifer Meyer pendant necklace inscribed with the initials A, C, and M, symbolizing Chris Martin and their children Apple and Moses. Several Coldplay-related pieces are also available, including branded ear defenders and promotional photos of the band’s lead singer, commonly known as Yellow.
Other Unique Items and Reflections on Their Value
Besides clothing and music memorabilia, the sale offers an eclectic mix of objects such as armchairs, tables, a lighter, prescription glasses, a signed nude photograph of Paltrow taken by renowned photographer Mario Testino, a vintage dental cabinet, and an album of photos from the Iron Man 2 film. Reflecting on the emotional resonance of possessions, Paltrow said,
“It’s nice for those things to live on. It’s nice for things to accrue value through different provenances and different owners.”
Auction Details and What’s Next
The auction will be held both online and in person at Peninsula Beverly Hills on March 24 and 25. The event not only allows fans and collectors to acquire unique, personal items but also supports World Central Kitchen’s ongoing mission to provide nourishment in disaster zones, demonstrating Paltrow’s commitment to meaningful charitable work through her personal legacy.
