At the 51st Cesar Awards in France, CanadianAmerican actor Jim Carrey received a special lifetime honour recognizing his diverse and influential acting career. Carrey accepted the Cesar d’honneur with a lighthearted speech in French, reflecting his connection to the French language and culture.

Celebrating Jim Carrey’s Career and French Roots

During the ceremony, the 64-year-old Carrey joked about his French skills, saying,

“How was my French? Almost mediocre, right?”

as he acknowledged having a French ancestor dating back approximately 300 years. The event’s host, Benjamin Lavernhe, paid tribute to Carrey by revisiting iconic moments from his career, including a playful sketch inspired by the cult classic The Mask.

From Comedy to Critically Acclaimed Roles

Jim Carrey’s rise began with stand-up comedy before he gained fame in the 1990s through hit films like Dumb and Dumber, The Mask, and Ace Ventura: Pet Detective.
