Robert Pattinson Impressed by Zendaya’s Filmmaking Dedication

Robert Pattinson admired Zendaya’s dedication to filmmaking after noticing she spent her days off on set observing the production process. The Twilight actor and Euphoria star co-star in the upcoming film The Drama, which follows a couple whose wedding week takes an unexpected turn.

While Pattinson used his breaks to rest and prepare for filming, Zendaya stayed behind with the crew to watch the scenes being shot. This commitment to understanding the craft impressed Pattinson, highlighting her passion for filmmaking.

Behind the Scenes: What Pattinson Observed on Set

In a conversation with Zendaya for Interview Magazine, Pattinson shared his impression of her work ethic on set. He said,

“What I noticed on The Drama was that you come in on your day off and watch the monitor and talk to all the different department heads. It’s very impressive,”

and added humorously,

“I literally can’t even function. I can only do tiny little bursts of energy. I had to go and lay down on my fainting couch.”

Replying to Pattinson, Zendaya expressed her enthusiasm for filmmaking, stating,

“Yeah, I love what we do and it’s one of my favourite places to be. You should try it sometime.”

Zendaya’s Aspiration to Direct Influences Her Approach

Zendaya has long been interested in exploring multiple facets of filmmaking, motivated by a desire to direct a feature film herself someday. Her eagerness to learn from every part of the production contributed to her presence on set beyond her acting duties.

Even after spending extensive time filming, Zendaya was still surprised by how the director and writer, Kristoffer Borgli, assembled the final cut of The Drama. She told Pattinson,

“I’m really happy with it. It’s better than what I could have made up in my head. I really appreciate the way Kris edits. There are odd cuts that make for great comedic moments and awkwardness and discomfort that I don’t even remember being on the page.”

Upcoming Projects Featuring Pattinson and Zendaya

Following The Drama, Pattinson and Zendaya continued their collaboration with two additional projects: Christopher Nolan‘s The Odyssey and Dune: Part Three. All three films are scheduled for release within the same year, with The Drama arriving in April, The Odyssey releasing in July, and Dune: Part Three planned for December.
