Stephen Fisher (born November 27, 1963), known professionally as Fisher Stevens, is an American actor, director, producer, and writer. He is best known for his roles in the films Short Circuit and Short Circuit 2, as well as for his work in various Wes Anderson films. With a career spanning several decades, Stevens has also made significant contributions to documentary filmmaking, winning an Academy Award for Best Documentary Feature for The Cove in 2010.

Fisher Stevens was born in Chicago, Illinois, to Jewish parents Sally and Norman Fisher. He grew up in the Chicago area, living in neighborhoods such as Hyde Park, Highland Park, and Evanston. Stevens describes himself as a “white Jewish kid from Chicago.” His parents divorced when he was 13, after which he moved to New York City with his mother. At the age of 16, he landed his first film role in the horror movie The Burning. He completed one year at New York University before deciding to pursue acting full time.
