Kaitlin Willow Olson McElhenney (born August 18, 1975) is an American actress and comedian best known for her roles as Deandra “Sweet Dee” Reynolds in the FXX comedy series It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia and Morgan Gillory in the ABC crime drama series High Potential. She has been nominated for multiple Emmy Awards and is recognized for her contributions to television and film, including various acclaimed comedy shows and movies.
Early Life and Background
Kaitlin Olson was born in Portland, Oregon, on August 18, 1975, to Donald Lee Olson, a publisher, and Melinda Leora, a nurse and the CEO of Earth Mama Angel Baby organics. Shortly after her birth, Olson’s family moved to Spokane, Washington, and later to Vashon Island, Washington, where she lived until she was eight years old. The family then returned to the Portland area, settling in Tualatin, where Olson grew up on a farm. Her father worked as the publisher of the Portland Tribune from 2000 to 2001. At the age of twelve, Olson was involved in a serious bicycle accident that resulted in a fractured skull requiring reconstructive surgery. She graduated from Tigard High School in Tigard, Oregon, in 1993. Olson studied theater at the University of Oregon, graduating with a bachelor’s degree in theater arts in 1997. After completing her education, she moved to Los Angeles to pursue a career in acting.

Olson has been involved in various charitable efforts, including a tribute video released by the Human Rights Campaign in honor of the victims of the Orlando nightclub shooting.
