Dubbed the ‘King of Horror’, he is widely known for his horror novels and has also explored other genres, among them suspense, crime, science-fiction, fantasy, and mystery. His father, Donald Edwin King, was a traveling vacuum salesman, and his mother, Nellie Ruth King, raised him and his older brother, David, after their father left the family when Stephen was just two years old.
