George Lazenby is an Australian retired actor best known for portraying James Bond in On Her Majesty’s Secret Service (1969). Before his acting career, Lazenby worked as a highly successful model, earning Top Model of the Year in 1966. His path to film began when producer Albert R. Broccoli discovered him through a Fry’s chocolate commercial and cast him as the iconic British spy despite his lack of formal film training. Lazenby declined to continue as Bond and pursued international productions including Universal Soldier (1971), Who Saw Her Die? (1972), Saint Jack (1979), and Gettysburg (1993). He announced his retirement from acting in 2024.
