Marielle Heller is an American actress, director, and screenwriter born October 1, 1979, whose projects explore empathy and complex emotional narratives. Regarded as a distinctive voice in contemporary American cinema, Heller wrote and directed The Diary of a Teenage Girl (2015), which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival and won the Independent Spirit Award for Best First Feature, followed by the critically acclaimed Can You Ever Forgive Me?
