Lindsay Lohan is sharing a behind-the-scenes moment from her new film Freakier Friday, in which she adds a spontaneous twist to a key scene with Chad Michael Murray. The 39-year-old actress and Murray, who plays her character’s ex-boyfriend Jake, performed several scenes together, but one flirtatious moment stood out due to Lohan’s decision to improvise.
Improvisation Brings a Bold Twist
In the scene, Anna, played by Lohan, flirts with Jake, although it is actually her daughter Harper’s consciousness in Anna’s body. While the original script called for light flirtation, Lohan dramatically elevated the interaction by climbing onto the table, surprising everyone on set. She admitted taking the liberty to change the performance, saying,
“That wasn’t there. None of that was there,”
and added,
“Yeah, I was like, ‘Can I?’ I almost fell off a few times, too!”
Creativity and Spontaneity on Set
Lohan revealed she filmed the scene with a mix of daring and humor, joking,
“I watched that scene with one eye open,”
and encouraged herself to “just go for it.” Chad Michael Murray fondly recalled the creative atmosphere, highlighting how much of the film’s energy came from spontaneous choices during shooting. He said,
“One of the greatest things about making this movie was so much of it was made on the day. Just because it’s on the page doesn’t mean that’s what you’re doing on the day.”
Murray also praised Lohan’s performance, noting,
“There was so much creativity flowing and everybody just having fun,”
and,
“I loved watching Lindsay own it. It was like, Oh, there she is.”
The Impact of the Scene and What It Means for the Film
This lively and unscripted moment adds a fresh and unpredictable energy to Freakier Friday, contributing to the engaging dynamic between the characters and showcasing Lohan’s playful approach to her role. The scene not only heightens the film’s appeal but also reflects the collaborative spirit shared by the cast. With this energy, Freakier Friday is set to entertain audiences who appreciate both humor and surprises in body-switch comedies.
