Jamie Lee Curtis became visibly emotional during a recent recording of Marc Maron’s WTF podcast when discussing the tragic shooting of Charlie Kirk, the 31-year-old activist and co-founder of Turning Point USA. The interview took place just days after Kirk was fatally shot on September 10 at a college in Utah, highlighting the impact of the event on those connected to him and the broader community.
Curtis Shares Deep Reflections on Faith and Humanity
During the conversation, Curtis acknowledged that although she often disagreed with Kirk’s beliefs, she found compassion for him as a person and focused on his faith and family. She expressed her hope that in his final moments, Kirk felt grounded in his religious faith.
I disagreed with him on almost every point I ever heard him say, but I believe he was a man of faith, and I hope in that moment when he died, that he felt connected with his faith,
Curtis said through tears.
I still believe he’s a father and a husband and a man of faith.
Expressing Concern About Graphic Footage of the Shooting
Curtis also voiced her unease about videos of the shooting circulating on social media platforms. She spoke about the damaging effects of repeated exposure to violent imagery and emphasized the need to avoid normalizing such scenes.

I know there is a video of his assassination. I know people who’ve seen it,
Curtis stated.
We as a society are bombarded with imagery. We don’t know what the longitudinal effects of seeing those towers come down over and over again, or watching his execution over and over again. I don’t ever want to see this footage of this man being shot.
Hollywood Figures Advocate for Compassion Amid Turmoil
In the wake of the tragedy, notable Hollywood personalities, including Jimmy Kimmel, have called for empathy rather than division. Kimmel urged people to focus on the shared human cost of violence instead of resorting to anger or blame.
Instead of the angry finger-pointing, can we just for one day agree that it is horrible and monstrous to shoot another human?
he wrote on Instagram.
On behalf of my family, we send love to all the children, parents and innocents who fall victim to senseless gun violence.
Erika Kirk Honors Her Late Husband’s Memory
Erika Kirk, widow of Charlie Kirk, paid a heartfelt tribute expressing her profound sorrow and the strength of their connection. Through a series of photos shared on Instagram, she reflected on both their bond and the spiritual comfort she seeks amid grief.
The sound of this widow weeping echoes throughout this world like a battle cry,
Erika wrote.
I have no idea what any of this means. But baby I know you do and so does our Lord.
Rest in the arms of our Lord baby as he blankets you with the words I know your heart always strived to hear, ‘well done My good and faithful servant,’
she added.
This emotional testimony underscores the personal cost behind public tragedies and the enduring hope for peace and reconciliation through faith.
