Jessica Chastain’s Horror Film Other Mommy Delayed to 2026

Universal Pictures has shifted the release of the horror film Other Mommy, starring Jessica Chastain, from May 8, 2026, to October 9, 2026. Directed by Rob Savage, the movie is an adaptation of Josh Malerman’s novel Incidents Around the House.

Plot Centers on a Young Girl’s Encounter with a Sinister Presence

The story follows eight-year-old Bela, who endures the stress of her parents’ troubled marriage. Her fragile world is further disturbed by a dark entity she names ‘Other Mommy,’ which emerges from her closet asking, ‘Can I go inside your heart?’ Bela’s refusal triggers increasingly threatening manifestations that jeopardize her family’s safety.

Key Cast and Production Details

Arabella Olivia Clark, known for The Housemaid, stars as Bela. Jessica Chastain, famous for IT: Chapter Two and Crimson Peak, joins the cast along with Jay Duplass, Dichen Lachman, Sean Kaufman, and Adam Silver. James Wan produces the project through Atomic Monster, while Nathan Elston adapted Malerman’s novel for the screenplay.

Anticipation and Future Outlook

With its revised autumn release, Other Mommy aims to present a haunting and emotionally charged horror experience. The delay allows additional time to refine the film, potentially enhancing its impact upon reaching audiences in 2026.
