Glen Powell is set to headline a new R-rated teen comedy at Paramount Pictures, continuing his string of notable projects. This upcoming film, titled The F*ckboat, brings Powell, known for his recent work in The Running Man and Chad Powers, into the center of an energetic project that spotlights the Glen Powell teen comedy genre.
An Unconventional Comedy in the Works
According to Variety, the new film positions itself as a bold, stylish entry, described as a
“in the vein of Risky Business and Easy A,”
and features a screenplay from Caroline Glenn and Sean Doherty. This creative duo first met at Emerson College in 2016, forging a friendship that now culminates in their first feature film script together.
The project attracted significant attention within the industry, with several producers vying for the script. Ultimately, Powell and Dan Cohen’s production company, Barnstorm, secured the rights. After Powell and Doherty finalized the script, it was presented to potential buyers, where Paramount, currently under Skydance’s ownership, claimed the movie for its slate.
Strong Creative Team Assembles Behind The F*ckboat
While plot details for The F*ckboat remain under wraps, the film’s production team is becoming a draw in its own right. The writers, Caroline Glenn and Sean Doherty, are joined by executive producer Ryan Schwartz of Barnstorm, with Jacquelina Rosso co-producing. Glenn, based in Los Angeles, is set to release her debut novel, Cruelty Free, in February 2026, while Doherty, from Massachusetts, currently works as a senior producer for Conan O’Brien’s Team Coco.
The production company Barnstorm, launched by Glen Powell and Dan Cohen earlier in the year, is quickly building credibility with a development slate that includes collaborations with directors like Judd Apatow, Barry Jenkins, and Ron Howard. Additionally, Barnstorm has established a first-look agreement with Universal, demonstrating a strong industry presence despite its young age.
Industry Response and Project Expectations
The enthusiasm for The F*ckboat reflects the momentum behind both its creators and lead producer. For writers Caroline Glenn and Sean Doherty, this Paramount-backed film marks a major career milestone. Comedy fans are expected to watch its progress closely, as the premise and talent suggest the film could make a notable mark in teen comedy circles. With Glen Powell at the helm and prominent producers supporting the project, The F*ckboat is shaping up as one of the more anticipated entries in Paramount’s upcoming lineup.
