Ryan Reynolds has revealed that he feels he did not express enough anger regarding the harassment claims made by his wife, Blake Lively, against director Justin Baldoni. The actor’s frustration became public after private messages between the couple, along with their friends, colleagues, and film industry executives, were disclosed following the unsealing of court documents earlier this year.
Fury Expressed Through Private Messages
In messages sent during the controversy, 49-year-old Ryan Reynolds harshly criticized Justin Baldoni, 42, using phrases such as “bucket of dumb-dumb juice,” “thoroughbred, predatory fraudster,” and “inexplicably toxic mess.” He also called Baldoni
“a character study in malignant, lazy-lidded stupidity and darkness.”
The actor did not hold back his disdain when addressing some senior Sony Pictures executives either, referring to them as
“f**king textbook, ineffectual elderly people with no ideas or thoughtful communication skills”
due to their perceived failure to adequately support Blake Lively amid the allegations.
Ryan Reynolds’ Team Defends His Response
This week, a spokesperson for Ryan Reynolds spoke to Puck Magazine, affirming the actor’s intense reaction to the situation.
“Yes Ryan got involved-what husband wouldn’t support his wife and the mother of his children?”
The rep further explained that Reynolds witnessed Blake Lively’s daily struggle to address sexual harassment privately and respectfully, only for her efforts to meet with retaliation.
“He saw his wife fighting daily to stand up against sexual harassment in a private and respectful way, only to face retaliation for doing so.”
The representative conveyed that Ryan Reynolds believes his response could have been stronger.
“If anything, Ryan feels like he wasn’t angry enough,”
“He passionately believes in and will stand up for the basic right to a safe workplace free of harassment and retaliation for his wife and others. Then, now, and always.”
The Broader Importance of Standing Against Workplace Harassment
Ryan Reynolds’ admission signals how personally he views the issue of harassment, highlighting the emotional toll it takes on those involved. His response reflects a wider frustration with how institutions sometimes fail to protect victims adequately. The actor’s unwavering support for Blake Lively and his condemnation of the accused and those who failed to act reinforce ongoing calls for safer work environments across industries.
