Mandy Moore and her husband Taylor Goldsmith recently revealed the transformation of their wildfire-damaged home, offering a detailed look at their remodeled residence in Los Angeles. After the devastating wildfires swept through Altadena in January 2025, the couple shared the story of what happened to their property and how the experience strengthened their bond with the community.
Rebuilding After the Wildfire Devastation
The This Is Us star and the musician opened up about the significant damage their home sustained when the wildfires tore through their neighborhood earlier this year. Taylor Goldsmith described arriving just hours after the fire had passed, noting that the studio and garage had already burned down, leaving much of their belongings destroyed.
“I came here a few hours after the fire passed through this area,”
Taylor said in a video for Architectural Digest published on February 11.
“The studio was on fire in the back, our garage was already burnt down.”
Fortunately, the fire did not completely consume their mid-century modern home. This allowed them to make a major renovation, switching the architectural style to Spanish colonial, while rebuilding essential parts of the house. Despite the fortunate survival of the structure, many belongings including furniture and rugs were lost and had to be discarded.
“In my ignorance around what it means to live in a home that had been through a fire, I walked through and thought, ‘Everything’s fine, we made it, it’s gonna be OK and we’ll be back within a month or something,’”
Taylor added.
“But very quickly, we learned that all the soft goods—all the furniture, the rugs—that was all thrown away.”
A Glimpse Inside the Renovated Living Spaces
Mandy and Taylor shared a rare opportunity to see inside their rebuilt home, showcasing the freshly remodeled kitchen, open family room, cozy bedrooms, and the restored backyard. Their efforts reflect not only a physical rebuilding but also a renewal of their personal sanctuary after a harrowing experience.

Together, they have three young children: August, who is four, Oscar, who just turned three, and Louise, aged sixteen months. Protecting and providing for their family has been a central motivation in the restoration process and inspired many design decisions throughout the home.
Strengthened Community Ties in Altadena
Beyond the physical damage and recovery, the wildfire ordeal deeply affected Mandy’s feelings toward her neighborhood. She expressed a renewed sense of pride and belonging within Altadena, highlighting the resilience and support among neighbors in the aftermath of the disaster.
“Overwhelmingly, you feel so proud to live here and so proud to stake your claim here,”
Mandy said.
“So many people that we know, too, neighbors of ours, are doing the same, and I feel like it’s gonna bring everybody that much closer.”
Reflecting on a Challenging Year
Last fall, Mandy candidly shared her feelings about the difficult period following the wildfires, especially as she spent Thanksgiving with Taylor and their children. Despite the hardships, her message emphasized gratitude and hope for the future.
“It’s been a pretty wild and difficult year,”
she wrote on Instagram in November,
“but the top line is definitely overwhelming gratitude.”
Celebrating Family Milestones and Fatherhood
Alongside their home recovery, Mandy and Taylor have been growing their family, welcoming sons August “Gus” Harrison in February 2021 and Oscar “Ozzie” Bennett in October 2022. Their journey of parenthood has been a frequent topic of affection and celebration on social media.
For Father’s Day 2023, Mandy expressed her joy in sharing parenting duties with Taylor, praising his natural ability as a father.
“I can’t believe we get to do this parenthood journey together,”
she wrote.
“The 3 of us are the luckiest to have you, T. Love you to the moon and Happy Father’s Day!!!”
She also reflected on Taylor’s nurturing qualities, detailing his patient and engaged nature with their children.
“You were writing songs about coaching Little League well before we got married so I had *some* inkling that being a Dad was something you would excel at but I truly had no idea just how exceptional and natural you’d be until we were in it,”
Mandy shared.
Her tribute continued, describing his attentiveness to their sons’ needs.
“I marvel at all you bring to the table- your patience, your gentle nature, your willingness to change a diaper or get up with a crying baby without me ever asking or to run around and get in the dirt with a very active toddler at any moment,”
she added.
“Your ability to get Gus to eat something he’d flat out refused with me or elicit Ozzie’s immediate laughter, your music curation for our boys- which is TOP NOTCH… I could go on and on.”
Capturing Special Moments Together
Among their family highlights, Mandy marked their son Gus’s second birthday in February 2023 with a heartfelt post celebrating the joyful “goofiest guy.” She shared,
“We had an early Birthday bash with friends and family for Goosey. 2 years with the sweetest, goofiest guy has absolutely flown by. We’re the luckiest folks around to be in your orbit, Gus Goldsmith.”
The couple’s relationship has often been publicly tender and playful, reflecting their shared love for music and parenting. Mandy described quarantining with Taylor during the early days of the pandemic, saying,
“I have been quarantined with this guy for over 6 weeks and we still really like each other.”
Their collaboration extends beyond family life, as Taylor, a member of the band Dawes, and Mandy have worked on music together, including a song featured on This Is Us. Taylor posted about their recording experience in 2018,
“@mandymooremm @siddkhoslamusic and I the day we recorded Invisible Ink from last night’s episode of @nbcthisisus… So honored that Sidd asked me to help him write it and then to get to record it with my favorite human. Please go check it out on Spotify or Apple Music.”
Shared Adventures and Public Appearances
Outside the home and studio, the couple enjoys spending time adventurously and socially. They hiked together in Kilimanjaro National Park in August 2018 and have been seen attending events such as the Communities in Schools Celebration in Los Angeles in May 2018. Public displays of affection showcase the strength of their bond both on and off stage.
Mandy fondly recalled a hotel fire in 2018 where their night was unexpectedly interrupted, noting the mix of exhaustion and gratitude.
“The look of two tired people who were awoken by the hotel fire alarm at midnight,”
she wrote.
“Also the look of two people grateful for 24 hours together after being apart almost a month. It’s always a worth a trip to see @dawestheband play a gig too…. you’re in for a treat tonight, #portland.”
Memorable moments from their relationship include attending the Emmy Awards in 2017 and celebrating their two-year anniversary with heartfelt posts. Mandy posted,
“The best 2 years. Never not smiling with you, T.”
This showcases the deep connection between the actress and her musician husband throughout their time together.
