Dwayne Johnson’s Energy Drink Settlement Could Owe You Cash

Customers who purchased ZOA Energy drinks labeled as preservative-free have until February 20 to file a claim as part of a $3 million class-action settlement. The lawsuit centers around allegations that these drinks contained chemical preservatives despite marketing claims to the contrary, making this Dwayne Johnson energy drink settlement significant for affected buyers.

Details Behind the Class-Action Suit Against ZOA Energy

The lawsuit was filed in October 2023 in the Northern District of California, accusing ZOA Energy—a brand co-owned by Dwayne Johnson, his ex-wife Dany Garcia, celebrity trainer Dave Rienzi, and investor John Shulman—of misleading consumers by advertising “0 preservatives” while including substances like citric and ascorbic acids. The federal complaint explains that while the company denies wrongdoing, it agreed to settle the case to avoid further litigation.

ZOA denies these allegations and maintains that its labeling and marketing are truthful, accurate, and compliant with applicable law.

Claim Eligibility and Payout Information

Consumers who purchased ZOA Energy drinks between March 1, 2021, and November 21, 2025, may qualify for payouts depending on their purchase records. Those who submit approved claims with receipts can receive up to $150 per household. Customers without proof of purchase can still claim up to $10 per household. However, all claim forms must be filed electronically or by mail before the February 20 deadline, and payments must be redeemed within 180 days to avoid forfeiture.

Next Steps in the Settlement Process

The court’s final approval hearing is scheduled for March 26. According to the complaint, the settlement relief will only be distributed once the court approves the agreement and after any potential appeals are resolved favorably.

The proposed relief offered to Class Members will be provided only if the Court gives final approval to the Settlement and, if there are any appeals, after the appeals are resolved in favor of the Settlement,

the complaint stated.

Background of ZOA Energy and Its Market Position

Despite selling a majority stake to Molson Coors in 2024, ZOA continues to feature Johnson heavily in its marketing and advertisements on social media platforms.

Other Notable Consumer Settlements

In a separate development, Amazon shoppers are eligible to claim refunds of up to $51 by participating in a $2.5 billion settlement with the Federal Trade Commission. Claims for the Amazon settlement must be filed by July 23, 2026.
