Chris Hemsworth revealed that many of his tattoos are inspired by drawings from his 13-year-old daughter, India. The actor shared this insight during an appearance on the SmartLess podcast with Jason Bateman, Will Arnett, and Sean Hayes, explaining how some tattoos hold a special personal meaning connected to his family.
A Tattoo Nearly Removed Was Saved by India’s Request
Hemsworth explained that he once started the laser removal of a tattoo based on the book Oh, the Places You’ll Go!, a story his own mother read to him and that he passed on to India. However, after noticing the faded tattoo, India asked what had happened and expressed her love for the design, which led Hemsworth to halt the removal. The tattoo remains partially faded but preserved because of her affection for it.
Spontaneous Sketches Became Permanent Ink
During a late-night tattoo session, India spontaneously drew small sketches that Hemsworth’s tattoo artist found more meaningful than the original ideas planned. This prompted the actor to permanently ink her drawings onto his arm, making her spontaneous creativity a lasting part of his tattoos.
Family Life and Personal Meaning Behind the Tattoos
Chris Hemsworth shares India and his twin sons, Sasha and Tristan, with his wife Elsa Pataky, whom he married in 2010. The tattoos inspired by his daughter reflect his close family bonds and the sentimental value attached to his body art, connecting his personal story to his public image.
