Quentin Tarantino’s New Play Set for London Debut in 2027

Quentin Tarantino is preparing to bring a new creation to London’s West End, marking a departure from his usual film projects. His upcoming Quentin Tarantino new play is scheduled for a debut in 2027, with a chance it could premiere as early as late 2026, signaling a fresh direction for the acclaimed filmmaker.

Details on the Play’s Style and Story

The play is described as an original British farce, echoing the tradition of classic comedic playwrights like Brian Rix and Ray Cooney. It embraces a door-slamming, mistaken-identity style, reminiscent of old-fashioned farcical works. Importantly, the script is an original piece written solely by Tarantino and is unrelated to any of his previous movies.

Cast and Production Plans

Currently, Tarantino is in the process of scouting theaters and assembling the cast for the production, likely to feature prominent Hollywood actors. Bradley Cooper, known for his theatrical experience, has emerged as a potential lead.

Tarantino’s Shift to Theater Announced at Sundance

The filmmaker initially revealed news of his new play during a discussion at the 2025 Sundance Film Festival. He stated,

“If you’re wondering what I’m doing right now, I’m writing a play, and it’s going to be probably the next thing I end up doing,”

Quentin Tarantino said via NME.

“If it’s a fiasco, I probably won’t turn it into a movie. But if it’s a smash hit? It might be my last movie.”

Uncertain Future of Tarantino’s Final Movie Project

While contemplating his 10th and final movie, Tarantino considered The Movie Critic, initially designed as an eight-episode television series before being adapted into a film script. Ultimately, he decided against producing the movie, feeling it too closely mirrored his previous work.

Tarantino explained,

“There was nothing to figure out [with The Movie Critic] because I already kind of knew more or less how to turn LA into an older time,”

adding,

“So it just was too much like the last one.”

Related Projects and Industry Collaborations

Tarantino has also contributed the screenplay for The Adventures of Cliff Booth, a film featuring Brad Pitt reprising his Oscar-winning role from Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood. Directed by David Fincher, this movie is expected to release later this year in theaters and on Netflix, indicating Tarantino’s ongoing influence in cinema even as he explores theater.
