Mads Mikkelsen Flies Back for Comic-Con Prague Surprise Appearance

Danish actor Mads Mikkelsen will make a surprise appearance at Comic-Con Prague, held from March 13 to 15 at the O2 universum in Prague, marking an unexpected addition to the event’s lineup. This brief return to the Czech capital comes shortly after Mikkelsen completed filming in the city, making the highly anticipated Mads Mikkelsen Comic-Con Prague moment even more special for fans.

Mads Mikkelsen Makes a Special Trip Back After Filming

Mikkelsen’s participation follows his recent work in Prague on the thriller What Happens at Night, directed by Martin Scorsese and starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Jennifer Lawrence. The production has been shooting extensively in and around Prague in recent weeks. Although the actor had already departed for Denmark, organizers were able to secure his return for this event.

Pavel Renčín, marketing director of Active Radio—the main organizer of Comic-Con Prague—explained the behind-the-scenes efforts:

“We knew he was filming in Prague and decided to contact his American agents,”

Renčín said.

“At first nothing happened, but after a week they told us that even though Mads had already returned to Denmark, he was willing to fly here just for a few hours to attend Comic-Con Prague.”

Because Mikkelsen’s time at the convention will be limited, his panel discussion is set to be streamed into an additional auditorium to meet audience demand. Furthermore, opportunities for photos with the actor will be brief and take place early in the convention schedule.

Mikkelsen has achieved international fame through a wide array of roles, spanning both European and Hollywood productions. Notable genre credits include Casino Royale, Doctor Strange, Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, and Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny. His portrayal of the title character in the TV series Hannibal also brought him worldwide recognition, while his acclaimed dramatic performances in films like The Hunt and Another Round have resonated on the international festival circuit.

Renowned Television and Film Stars Join the Festival Lineup

Although Giancarlo Esposito had to cancel his appearance due to scheduling conflicts—though promising to attend in 2027—Comic-Con Prague continues to present a strong roster of international performers. Among them is Billy Boyd, best known for his role as Pippin in Peter Jackson’s Lord of the Rings trilogy.

Science fiction enthusiasts will have the chance to meet Ben Browder and Claudia Black, stars of the cult sci-fi show Farscape, both of whom later appeared in the long-running Stargate franchise. Peter Weller, recognized for his role in RoboCop, is also confirmed to participate in this year’s event.

Additionally, Robert Llewellyn, famous for portraying the android Kryten in the British comedy Red Dwarf, will attend. This series has maintained a devoted fanbase among Czech science fiction audiences for decades.

Scottish actor Iain Glen will join the festival on Sunday only. Glen is internationally recognized for his portrayal of Jorah Mormont in HBO’s Game of Thrones and his roles in the Resident Evil film series.

Other television guests include Diêm Camille and Sandra Yi Sencindiver, both linked to the upcoming sci-fi series Alien: Earth. Sencindiver has also appeared in the Prague-shot series Foundation and The Wheel of Time. Camille works as an actor, writer, and director.

Actors Craig Fairbrass and Vincent Regan, who both appeared in Netflix’s live-action adaptation of One Piece, will also be present to engage with fans during the festival.

Event Highlights Extend Beyond Celebrity Appearances

Alongside celebrity guest panels, Comic-Con Prague will showcase a variety of activities, including discussions, contests, exhibitions, and programming focused on comics, literature, and fan culture. Now in its seventh year, the festival has grown into one of the largest pop culture gatherings in Central Europe, drawing tens of thousands of visitors annually. Last year, over 23,000 attended, confirming its status as a major international fan event.

As a part of the global Comic-Con tradition that began in the United States in 1970 and has since spread worldwide, Comic-Con Prague not only celebrates fandom but also connects fans to creators, actors, and artists from multiple entertainment fields.

Mads Mikkelsen’s unexpected return for Comic-Con Prague highlights the festival’s increasing prominence and the ongoing appeal of the city as a hub for international film productions and fan culture. His brief but eagerly awaited appearance will undoubtedly enhance the festival’s atmosphere and leave a lasting impression on attendees eager to celebrate the genres and stars they admire.
