Rian Johnson is an American filmmaker known for independent crime dramas, science-fiction thrillers, major franchise blockbusters, and television. His directorial career began with the neo-noir mystery Brick in 2005 and expanded to include Looper, Star Wars: The Last Jedi, the Knives Out film series, and the murder mystery series Poker Face. Johnson has also directed acclaimed episodes of Breaking Bad, including the widely praised Ozymandias. Named one of Time magazine’s 100 most influential people in 2023, he has received Academy Award nominations for his screenwriting and won a Directors Guild of America Award for his television work.
