During the interview, Pattinson spoke about his evolving body chemistry while also touching on his latest work, including his role alongside Jennifer Lawrence in Die My Love. When asked about the crayon smell, he acknowledged it was once a strong presence in his life.

“I think that something has changed. My body chemistry has changed. It’s very strange,”

he told GQ.

“But I used to smell exactly like a crayon.”

He shared that as he aged, this scent diminished noticeably.

“And it’s weird, you become less scented as you get older, I think. I don’t really notice my smell anymore,”

Pattinson said.

“I used to have a very particular, pronounced smell.”

Explaining the Crayon Scent and Its Disappearance

Pattinson described the odor, clarifying it as distinct and unusual. When pressed for details, he called it a crayon-y scent and added that prior to that, it was something harsher.

“Before that, it was quite a kind of vicious, vicious scent,”

he explained, highlighting the evolving nature of his body chemistry.

The actor also linked the change in scent to broader transformations in his life.

“When [my scent] became crayon-y, it was like something died,”

he reflected.

“I guess the seven-year cycle. Maybe I was smelling of crayons when one self died, and when a new self was born, it was less scented.”

Significantly, Pattinson revealed that he no longer emits any noticeable body odor, even after activities like exercising.

“I don’t smell anything now. It’s so weird,”

he said.

“You can be going to the gym and stuff, I’m like, okay, I don’t smell anymore.”
