Tropfest has finalized its judging panel for the 2026 festival, which returns this Sunday, February 22, at Centennial Park. The new additions of James Cameron, Taron Egerton, and Danny Philippou join the previously announced jury president Margot Robbie and members Sarah Snook, Bruna Papandrea, and Dylan River. This strong roster reflects the festival’s commitment to highlighting bold and innovative filmmaking, with James Cameron participating virtually to lend his expertise.
Notable Judges Bring Diverse Experience and Vision
Taron Egerton, known for leading roles in the Kingsman: The Secret Service series, portraying Elton John in Rocketman, and starring in Apple TV+’s Black Bird, adds a blend of mainstream appeal and critical acclaim to the panel. James Cameron, acclaimed for his large-scale storytelling and technical innovation, will contribute remotely, sharing decades of filmmaking knowledge. Danny Philippou, part of the YouTube duo RackaRacka, gained international recognition with A24’s horror hit Talk to Me and its successful follow-up, Bring Her Back, bringing fresh genre insight to the panel.
